:P Yes the quality of life is good up here our family have had 17 years away from the madding crowd but such sweeping statements made by the Bank of Scotland should look at the reality, we have similar problems in employment/making ends meet/high food and fuel costs etc. its just on a smaller scale so in terms of percentages it looks idylic. But we love Shetland anyway . Can't afford to get off even if we wanted to !!!!!

It's interesting that although Shetland tops the list for Scotland, there are apparently 108 places in England and Wales that are better! If we can have the highest quality of life, even with outrageous fuel prices taken into consideration, it is surprising that we are still only 109th on the list.

Maybe it depends what they class as a 'place', is it a city, town, borough, hamlet, County or Shire?
