Frances144
Well, where do you do the majority of your Christmas shopping: Online? In Shetland? Go on a trip south? I would be very interested to know. Thank you.
sassermaet
When I lived in Shetland I mostly found stuff on the island. However, in recent years I started buying stuff online, and that so far is where I've gotten a lot of my presents this year. However, as I now also live in Glasgow I get stuff from shops where possible as it's easier to do so and there's a good selection. I always buy cards from shops too
Girzie
From catalogues, online, in Shetland (Try the Aywick shop!) and a trip south.
Fifi
Ahem! For ease, you can't beat buying gifts and cards online and supporting your local craftspeople at the same time..
khitajrah
Last year I bought mostly everything online because I couldn't get into town. This year though I'm making nearly everyone's gifts, plus a few things for the kids from the Toy Catalogue at the local shop and some books from a Usborne book party - thats' it. I'm also making all my own cards, and thoroughly enjoying the cutting and pasting of pretty papers (all aquired substantially cheaper online than at any of the local craft shops). fairislefaerie
All of its been done online, gave up trying to get off the isle & do a trip south for shopping as the weather never seemed to like my plans. Hardly do any shopping that isnt online now.
Spinner72
100% online this year. Honestly haven't bought a single thing other than foodstuff's locally. Last year i would have said 80-90% locally, but it's just no longer financially viable now the only budget retalier is (nearly) gone. crofter
I don't celebrate Christmas by shopping.
Ghostrider
I don't Christmas shop, I don't "Christmas" anything, long live Scrooge! ....but...."if" I did, it would be 99.9+% online, just like the rest of my non-food shopping. Guest Anonymous
In 2005 I did 90% of my xmas shopping online, purely because I was too damned lazy to traipse around shops.I reckon I saved about £100 on the items I bought. But one item which cost £140 didn't arrive. I had to buy a replacement locally which cost, surprisingly, only £5 more.Anyway, as I never got a refund for the item I didn't receive, I was worse off by £45.So afraid I've bought nowt online since. tarotangel
Due to moving back and stuff like that we're not "doing" Christmas this year but normal service resumed next year. Last year when we were Sooth we got most of the stuff online with a couple of trips to local shops. I imagine next year will be kind of the same but I'm determined to try and get presents throughout the year rather than starting off in October.
