Pooks
^^ It all comes down to the size and shape of bottle at the end of the day. Depending on the SLR and the size of lens fitted then it should be fairly easy to judge whether it can hold it or not (e.g. does it fall over?). If you have a 600mm lens fitted to your camera then chances are it will not suffice. On the other hand if you have a 50mm lens then it will probably do fine. Either way it can hold up an SLR just fine. It is the lens that will be the problem...
BigMouth
What about this http://www.trustedreviews.com/digital-cameras/review/2007/08/21/Panasonic-Lumix-DMC-FZ18/p1 Saves faffing about trying to swap lenses. My better half stopped using a Canon DSLR when I bought my Lumix FZ7. It wasn't long before we had a second FZ7 in the house! The DSLR sits mostly unused now and one of the lenses cost £600! Carlos
It comes down to weighing up the best camera for the job - a camera is no use however good it is if you end up leaving it home.On the other hand an slr does give more options than any fixed lens camera. Fine when you're just pointing and shooting but try getting decent moon shots and star trails with that http://www.benadamson.co.uk/IMG_2078.pnghttp://www.benadamson.co.uk/IMG_2087.jpg So what's this lens you've got gathering dust... BigMouth
So what's this lens you've got gathering dust... I stand corrected, it is a Sigma EX 50-500mm 1:4-6:3 APO DG HSM. Cost £600 when purchased. Looks like we will be saving it for moon shots
