JAStewart
I absolutely agree with you. it has been a long while since we have had a film of this calibre. Just for the record, the film is a release of 2009. Release of 09 over here, 08 over there. How many wrestlers did you spot? I hear that in it, there is Necro Butcher, Ernest Miller and someone else? Is that correct? K-Kwik, too.
Gaepshot
This poor b*gger didn't live to reap the rewards. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/80678/Professional-wrestler-in-Rourke-s-film-found-dead

Jeemsie1989
K-Kwik, too. More recently called Ron "The Truth" Killings in TNA as I remember. What's his moniker in WWE now? I cana mind, he seems to have dropped off the radar again, already.
JAStewart
He's back at the WWE now as K-Kwik I think...
Jeemsie1989
Is he still known as K-Kwik? I thought he had a new name? Dear me, I must be getting old.....
spencey7
Saw The Wrestler tonight and absolutely loved it. Mickey Rourke is exceptional; he deserves the Best Actor statuette which will be coming his way next month. I hope the film gets nominated for Best Picture (along with Slumdog Millionaire and The Dark Knight), but doubt it will be. Aronofsky will surely get a Best Director nod though. JAStewart
Re-watched it with my flatmate again tonight. When Bruce Springsteen's The Wrestler kicks in at the end.. so glorious.

dtothet
Mickey Rourke got nominated for Best Actor, but there was no Best Director nomination or Best Picture. Marissa Tomei did get a nomination for Best Supporting Actress though. (Also, The Dark Knight didn't get a Best Picture nomination... Which I think is good.) Jeemsie1989
I can't believe it didn't get a best picture nomination. IMO, it's should get best actor, best picture & best director. Again, IMO
JAStewart
I can't take the Academy awards seriously based on the nominations. Darren Aronofsky deserves awards for all his movies, they're fantastic, and The Wrestler was done on a $6m budget! In today's world, that's insane. JAStewart
Mickey Rourke vs Jericho at Wrestlemania 25. http://www.wrestlingexposed.com/headlines/7602.shtml HAHAH! Amazing!
Spinner72
Very early days, but since Rourke has signed to appear, I can't think of anyone better than Jericho (or possibly Michaels) to pull off a half decent angle. However involving Killings, or even better, old Necro, would probably make much more sense from a "casual", "movie", or indeed smark viewpoint. Its a very obvious and logical money-maker, but I really hope this doesn't eliminate the credibility Rourke (and by proxy, the gym hall wrestlers) has/have gained from the film. Watched it again last night (pre rumble) - great attention to detail, and only upon a second viewing does Rourke's performance really hit home.
