Stoichkov in my opinion there are loads of guys who play fitba in Shetland who are great players (and as equally as good or even better than some of the present Shetland team) and would love to be selected to play for the county team but aren't. I think there should be an open training policy to allow players to train then through their own sheer hard work they might get a chance to show their skills and potentially get selected.

Delting that won the Island Games ?! They only had 3 players in the starting line up. Thistle had 4 ! John Peanut was their manager at the time and he lasted only slightly longer than Twinny did as Shetland Manager!!!

The person that will be the new coonty manager will be ........... as always..........the singular candidate whom applies!

I can see what you are saying and there probably could be a larger training squad, as from what i've heard the turnouts to county training haven't been great in recent years. Training with the best players in Shetland would certainly benefit the players on the perifery but where would you draw the line? You couldn't just let anybody turn up, players might turn up who were utterly hopeless. The manager's job would still be to select their training squad and inevitably it would be the players that they rate the highest.

My mole in the SFA informs me that John Jamieson has resigned as Shetland manager? If so are we expecting too much from the position?

Your mole informed you he resigned?

Could he possibly have been forced to resign? Both sides save face?

Who Knows.

Could this lead to Delting reataining their position as Number One in Shetland Football again?

A boss fully focused on the Delts, it could well happen.

Seven League Titles and an Island games(2005 - it was Delting what won it) surely had him down as the best manager in the County.

Interesting to see who the replacement will be - the Scott-Christie/Graham partnership would be my preferred choice although I would prefer that at Delting - Think Graham would not be keen as he is still pulling the knife from his back from last decade.

Good turd stir Mr Parker - I’m afraid that for Delting to have any chance of regaining the league next season, it would have been better if JJ had resigned as Delting manager and stayed in the Shetland post. Unfortunately, too many players will not play for JJ at Delting due to his abrasive, ruthless style of management. This was summed up by his treatment of Deltings flying pig Craig Dinwoodie, Brian Duncan and Binsie not to mention the promising youngsters who would rather play for Mossbank than play under him.

The present squad is too thin nowadays and guys like Peter Peterson, Stuart Hay and Ross Jamieson sadly, are in their mid-thirties. Hower I do live in hope and pray that I am wrong!

Can't see Shetland playing anyone other than Orkney next summer. Theres a huge involvement in raising funds and Shetland dont have a manager or coaching staff and no apparent successors.

The following Island games are in Bermuda I think, which will cost an arm and a leg so maybe they should bin that idea and look closer to home. I dont think the County side are in as good a place as they were under John Johnson and I would welcome him back.

I’ve been informed by an association member that members of the association have approached both Neil Bristow and John Johnson regarding the Shetland manager’s job. I understand that Neil is the preferred choice, but is not interested. Second choice Johnson however, is interested. Watch this space.........

doesnt matter who gets the shetland job the damage has been done by the last management team and its gonna be a long time before its fixed, its a shame because shetland could have a good squad heading to next summers island games and look whats happened they havnt even had a trainin session! pretty poor in my opinion.....they wud be better sending an under 18s side to the island games, at least there organised!

I just hope Shetland get a person with the basic football knowledge to take Shetland to the Island Games next year. It would be a shame if the team never went and took a backward step like when they missed out on rhodes 2007. That was a big mistake in my opinion. These players need more of that type of experience if they want to improve and take the team forward!

I suggest just a caretaker manager with the same players as last year take them there with no pressure.

Thoughts?
