pedro007kay
I wanted to list a few items for sale, but when I tried to do that, It told me that only Moderators can use that section of the forum. Is this correct? I hope not.
trout
That should not be. It's open to everyone. As is seen from the classifieds section there have been 7 adverts today from non-moderators. Can you detail what time this was and can you paste in the exact URL from your address bar that you saw this message?
Njugle
Did you try the new Classifieds section? http://www.shetlink.com/classifieds/ We're in the midst of a changeover, the old 'for sale' section is closed and will disappear shortly. The new Classifieds section has just been launched

Heimdal
Could you please add a 'preview' button to the reply section of the Classifieds; handy to be able to check that what you wrote is what you meant to write

trout
Quick note to remind people to use the new "SOLD" button to indicate that their item has been sold. Saves people time and also you getting hassled! Thanks.
daveh
A question - why was there a change to the new classified section? I thought the old one was fine whereas I find the classified area not easy to follow.Perhaps it is just me.
trout
The old system was ironically becoming too popular - so far that you had possibly only 2-4 days worth of postings on the first page. From that was born a world of "bumptastic" posts and no-one was a winner. The new section is a standalone programme to "mirror" the look and feel of the forum software but give the ability to sub-section areas of advertisements to allow people to categorise - and make their adverts more prominent without the need to bump etc. It is a "work-in-progress" - and Shetlink is tieing in programmatically to the forum software as we go along to enable the new "section" to act more like the forum and be as useable as that area. Please do come back with any further points etc. from a community point of view. Shetlink is here as a "Shetland Online Community to share information, share resources and communicate ideas" - to serve "you" as a community resource - as well as allow users to post classified advertisements. Everything will be noted and prioritised if appropriate for inclusion "if possible". troutShetlink Team As an aside. Click on the header sections and they will order themselves ascending and descending. A little near Easter-egg built in but not advertised
daveh
Thanks for the response. I will look at the facility with a less critical eye. I appreciate your efforts on our behalf.
Ghostrider
Not to discourage your fund raising efforts. But, any chance of making the block of text that goes along with the Paypal button at the left of the Classifieds section narrower and longer, instead of the wider shorter format its in eenoo. No biggie, but having to scroll sideways to see the "Views" and "Responses" columns every time you go there is going to get irksome. Unless of course I'm the only one thats seeing it that way. trout
^^ LOL no worries, better? It's in an experimental stage ... so more feedback the better
Ghostrider
^^ Improved, but I'm still needing to scroll to bring the responses column in to view. Might have to end up being a compromise, as making the text much narrower is going to start making it look silly, but if a peerie tweak could be managed to bring the numbers in the responses column to sichts, it wid be juist fine. trout
Good show, no? Thanks Ghostrider... this implimentation is no more than a Saeterday nicht slester. Feedback most welcome. That should now fit daeraboots on a 1024x768 screen with a horizontal scrollbar but no need to scroll really *cough*? There's a move to upgrade the whole shebang of Shetlink. This might be a fine chance to shout oot tae da masses tae enquire: Whit tinks you? Whit kinda thing would you aa lik tae see dis place evolve intae? It is efter all for you and your opinion will be most welcome - even if we file it intae B for Blah blah, whitever!
