SeanRocks
Its a small place that gets very busy, it looks like the staff struggle to maintain that there is some form of service. Why are you complaining on a website about some cheese being on a sandwich, if you have such a big problem with it maybe it would be best you told someone who works there, its only abit of cheese, stop acting like it was raw meat. and it isn't unusual for people to have soup and a sandwich, and its only a cafe not a resturant so why would they bring your food separatly?, if you had ordered cake it would have arrived at the same time as your soup. MuckleJoannie
soup in any cafe /restaurant or eaterie is usually a starter eaten before the main part of the meal even if it is only a sandwich. Have you never been anywhere that the supper has been soup and sandwiches?
Guest Anonymous
we went to the peerie shop cafe and to be honest it is overpriced and poor service. we had soup to start and it was good but our main dish came at the same time (not so good) my wife who hates cheese had grated cheese stuck to bottom of her otherwise tasty looking chicken mayo sandwich. Poor preparation and cleaning down in between orders. I hope this cross contamination is only with the cooked ready to eat food and not carried on with raw and cooked food.probably won't be back. Quit whinging you silly person.Shetlanders love rolls with grated cheese stuck to the bottom, and top of them. It's Viking food, and three Shetanders in this Norwegian household love it. Why in hells name can't Shetlinkers do something apart from criticise Shetland???? Shetlink is quickly killing Shetland, and I'm sick of it. Twerto
http://images.icanhascheezburger.com/completestore/2008/10/4/128675851749932829.jpg Auld ramsie, it is the way of the Internet and many other things to moan instead of praise, Shetlink is one of the few forums that has a fairly balanced view on most things... and to SeanRocks, it may not of been raw meat but equally it could of been served to someone who is allergic to dairy products.. The fact it is small does not excuse itself for sloppiness if anything that should mean it is better run than somewhere with loads of room as efficiency levels should be at their best
sheepshagger
Having eating in cafe's in quite a few countries soup is often served with the main course while in reteraunts you would get them seperately. In Japan though soup is often served last as a means to wash the rest down. piggywiggie
I am loving the peerie shop cafe at the moment. you should all try the bacon, mozzarella (sp) and redcurrent jam toastie. ITS FECKING FANTASTIC.It was reccomended to me...and yum yum! They now have a new manager, well kinda two. One main man though. He had won awards for his soups. Cakes are great too. I dont drink coffee so dont know what thats like but its always busy in there so obviously shetland folks dont find it too expensive or bad service and all that jazz someone was complaining about the other day. I have been in A LOT worse cafes.

TeeAyBee
grated chese stuck on the outside of the bread is certianly not part of the dish of chicken mayo sandwich and maybe it is a cafe without a restaurant like status but soup in any cafe /restaurant or eaterie is usually a starter eaten before the main part of the meal even if it is only a sandwich. The food was good but service poor Soup and sandwiches is pretty normal up here. The cheese stuck to the sandwich is as I said before concerning and I was actually sympathising then, but now I don't give a damn - you are way too angry about one sandwich. Like another poster suggested, did you say anything about it to the management or did you do the normal British thing "Oh yes everything was fine" mutter mutter. Don't go there again if you didn't like it.

I have to concur - soup and a sandwich usually consumed together unless stated otherwise. Cheesy bits - yes, unfortunate.
