And, since this statistic has been known since before Blair hit Downing St., perhaps someone could suggest a good reason why the Home Office has been spending (or "wasting", as we experts call it) three quarters of its budget on this particular technology all that time. As you guessed, I haven't changed my opinion on CCTV one bit, nor am likely to. But don't, like someone I was chatting to the other day, shine a cheap laser pointer into the cameras. "They" don't like that, and you tend to get lots of fellers in blue uniforms rushing to the scene to arrest you for the crime of "blinding the camera". This a breach of identification and confidentiality of an individual. And I am surprised the Moderator's let these photos through????The photos should be removed from the site.This person should of been informed before pictures of him were posted on Shetlink!!Bad practice... Should the person that has been photographed contact Shetlink and ask for the photo to be removed then we will more than likely comply. As an example, take a look through the photos on the Shetland Museum website. I am sure that most of the people featured have never been asked permission to be viewed online. As another example take a look at the various webcams you can view on the Visit Shetland website. Are the images on this thread any worse than the CCTV being put in place? Back on topic please. The guy also got caught on my personal imaging system, now perhaps I need to get onto The Shetland News...he is also in breach of several Health and Safety issues. I bet he had the cost of risk assessments and method statements built into the charges levied onto the public purse.... And because of that, it is in the public interest... The images on CCTV in town, WILL end up on a tv program some where, or have the possibility.... They may be able to start to fine the drivers who drive down the street after 11 am..bout time...especially as there is a HUGE car park east and west... According to data protection laws, you can take images IF there is more than one person in the shot. If there is only one person in the shot, the view is that you should seek their permission and the image belongs to them. Again, I humbly apologise if this is not the case re Scotland but it certainly is in England and yes, I know we ain't in England. However, as health and safety laws were breached, whether or not those overseeing DP Regs would regard said Act applying in this particular instance as it don't apply to 'criminal' situations, remains to be seen; as does whether your image is your own (so to speak) when being on SIC business.
