Your coffee didn't have a mop in it by and chance? And was the "cup" large, yellow and made of plastic with a handle on the top? Did you happen to notice any irate cleaners stomping around looking for something while you were drinking said coffee?

Funny you should say that......

I must graciously disagree - Best Bacon Roll award undoubtedly goes to Solottis.

And I must graciously disagree with you too,

The Best Ever Bacon Roll Award must go to-

The old Viking Cafe Upstairs, circa 1979 - takeaway bacon and egg roll in a brown paper bag,

Think it was a Malcolmson's softie?

Amazing flavour :)

{And the chips fae doonstairs were great too!}

Da Kitchen Bakery hit the spot with their apple turnovers, and the other half liked their iced ginger cake.  It's rare that you can get the apple turnovers as the shop runs out of all the good stuff quickly, and the shelves are left with the less popular lines: Tiffin and flapjack etc.  Of course you can't blame the baker for this, the shop (Don Leslie's) needs to look at what sells and what goes less well.  Cough - mini-marzies - cough!

And if the S.I.C hadn't given the bus station away then the Viking Cafe might still exist. It would be a lot busier and cheaper than what's there now, too  :mad:

And, I must graciously (unusual for me) disagree with everyone..

Best bacon rolls that I ever had came from Lizzies(?) (the old weighbridge opposite the Bressay Ferry)..

Talking of Weighbridges - is the Gremista Weighbridge take-away still open?

I never actually tried any of their food, but heard tell it was fine.

We got some aafil fine tea & home bakes at the Old Haa Burravoe visitors/ heritage centre on Yell a couple o years ago.

Sometimes a good 10/10, depends totally on when you arrive.  Lucky dip really.  If they have just done a fresh batch, I would say they are probably the most delicious chips in Shetland.

Their haggis was very black puddingy - the haggis at The Fort is much nicer.  Crumbly and high quality.
