I've since heard tell of a couple of guys who were travelling in a car late that night (Sandwick UFO) and saw the same thing in Shurton Brae. It travelled down a park and then shot across Bressayy Sound and was last seen moving around the TV mast, before disappearing at high speed.

I saw what seemed to be a flying craft with a searchlight following me slowly. I was oot o me wit an hoided ahent da daek. Of course I later realised it was a helicopter and probably some daft pilot playing around

Some of the boys that flew them in the 80's seemed to get a kick out of doing that, the b****rs! Of course it was always too dark to see what company colours where on the chopper, never mind what the call sign was, to know which pilots to curse at next you met any of them.

I'd hate to see a UFO - aliens scare the hell out of me. Seriously.

My brother Dirk is living in New Zealand currently and here is a story about a guy he works with who's obsessed with UFO's (This is Dirk's unedited version so it's all his language!)

DIRK'S STORY:

anyway when we're in there we get talking and the other day i was talking to this total hillybilly dude called Vince who likes guns and likes to shoot. it turns out he's turd scared of UFOs, he claims he's seen them, there was 20 or more red glowing balls in the sky all racing towards eachother and when they got together they all shot streight up in the air like a fountain, they did that over and over again. he said when he shot at them with his shotgun they did nothoing. he's also been chased by UFOs while he was trying to piss on the road one night after the pub. and once he woke up in his room and there was a ghost there. it happened to him again about a year later but this time it wasnt any old ghost, it was his grandad's ghost. then a week later a big invisable demon invaded his house, he said 'it felt like a cold draught' so he threw his dog at it and ran away.

Ower in Bressay one night the sky was clear and me and my brother were looking up at the stars when we saw this orange light, slightly bigger than the rest of the stars moving across the sky at an unbelievable speed. Far faster than any man made object. It certainly wasn't a shooting star. We both watched it cross the sky in about ten seconds and had no real explanation afterwards.

 That'll be a satellite then!

excessive abuse of alcohol can cause blindness, but it takes about fifty year of abuse to do the damage, well im hoping so

did hear a story once of a doitin old woman who lived near mossbank about fifty years ago who in her old age started complaining of seeing a fiery ball at the top of the hill, the folks put it down to her dementia and dismissed her claims.

Surely that is a story of second sight or premonition? Another commonly related piece of folklore in these parts. Maybe we should have a thread about that too?

I know the people who saw the UFO at West Burrafirth and have a photograph of it. Quite spooky, and definately not a bird or anything like that. Apparently the thing hovered for about half a minute before shooting upwards and disapearing. The guy was driving through West Burrafirth at the time with his elderly parents onboard. They were all pretty shaken up by it.

p.s. Think the aliens have been messing about with the site as i can no longer get logged in.

Sammy

any chance do could get yun photo posted please.
