I am left wondering where all the conspiracy theorists are hiding. Nick Reiter goes in mysterious circumstances and now Dave Clark has gone. Could it just be that they were both starting to find skeletons in the vast cupboard that is SIC?. After all they were both paid to go quickly and quietly for reasons that are not totally clear. In Nick Reiter's case it seems the councillors suddenly realised that he worked for Westminster Council at the time of the "Homes for votes" scandal (despite having told them so at interview) and Dave Clark, at least in his working life, did a couple of things that would have been perfectly acceptable in a private company but not in a council. Maybe a slapped wrist in private would have done there.

 

As for DC's private life I am sure that threatening a councillor would have been grounds for dismissal once proved and that the "Sun affair" was unfortunate but not really enough to warrant spending half a million pounds of public money to get rid of the man. So come on, what did they discover that was so bad they had to go?.

I never did want a bridge, nor a tunnel or water from Sandwick.

Another case of, "Come here is something nice, let us destroy it."

The consultation fees for the bridge were also a waste of money.

Mr Beamug was also present then.

I am going to suggest a zip line as the next possibility, it could also double as a shooting gallery.

Back to the main subject here.

If the councillors do finally find their dignity and realise that they cannot carry on, will they also get a golden handshake?

Or will they just get a large sum of money from us for being unable to do their jobs properly?

Councillors get nothing all if they stand down or are voted out. There was a one off payment at the end of the last council for councillors who stood down and did not wish to stand ever again. This was because of the change to 3 members per ward.

Came back in time to spend Thursday evening in a really bad mood over the £250K 're-investment' in our Bubbly, now ex, Chief Executive. Had he earned it great. But a lot is being said, and been said, on this already but the horse has bolted.

As for Mugabe being seen in S. Shetland, I believe that he can also be seen in Bressay, under a different name, "Mr Beamug," the name is a request to all people who deal with him. He also seems to be above the law and can often be heard asking the question, "Dont you know who I was?

Mr Beamug is a long time resident of Bressay and was a champion of the bridge.

About six years ago I nicknamed him Beamug which is an anagram of Mugabe. I was loathe to insult the real Mugabe.

When you mentioned Mugabe on this thread it just amused me and was so relevant.

Does anyone know if it is true, that Frank Williamson has had a run on whitewash?

IMHO, the President and the Chief Executive of COSLA should be awarded the 'Ferry Forehead' Medal'

Their performance during what was a very important, worrying and crucial time for the people of Shetland, was dismal and an insult to say the least.

It appears that they had their Agenda and that was basically that.

 

IMHO, 22 Councillors are far too many for a place the size of Shetland.

The 3 Councillors per ward system is a joke.

A maximum of 12-14 Councillors would be my choice.

 

Never again, must a few geriatric Councillors and their little 'Coterie' in Council have such a stranglehold on the business that is called 'Shetland'.

Getting it right first time will mean less Secrecy, which means less Lawyers.

 

The published Charitable Financial Reports for 2008 are most impressive in their compilation and presentation, but I wonder how many of the 22 fully understand what they might be reading?
