I do wish people would not post comments on actions they think either of the parties have done. We have no proof mr shannon's post has been dealt with improperly other than a fairly one sided press campaign. We also have no proof over what was said between mr clark and mr wills over the phone.

 

It does appear that this whole affair is tainted by what the press say. Now they are starting to state that nearly all allegations against clark have no substance legally, whether it be phone calls, drinking at work and it does appear mr shannon's post was discussed with councillors and an offer was made to shannon for his approval. An item left out from earlier reports. Sloppy reporting? Maybe.

 

On the subject of drinking on SIC property. Where are christmas parties held? I could offer a guess that many of the posters here have drunk on SIC property at one time.

 

We all moan about the SIC refusing to change and modernise but are we really willing to accept it? From reading this and other topics the answer has to be no for the majority.

Wills be may a lot of thing but I don't believe he'a a liar, he sticks firmly to his beliefs and isn't afraid to speak his mind.

.

 

I believe you speak for a lot, including SIC Councillors, and that is David Clark's big problem.

It doesn't matter a jot now if the investigations don't turn up sufficient evidence.

The public is the ultimate judge.

@sailor It is amazing that which is 'leaked' to the papers ;)

 

Should one accept this at face value .. or should one look deeper into the spin it is creating?

 

Is this/has this been the embodyment of what everyone has whinged about for long. 'A new broom' to use the phrase currently in place. Perhaps sweeping without having become fully embeded to satisfy the majority? Who knows?

 

As indicated prior, 'change' is an experience - even larger in deep rooted organisations and interlinked closely with Kubler-Ross' interpretation and theory on the five stages of grief; that of disbelief, anger, negotiation, depression and finally acceptance.

 

Could this debackle be moving into the third stage having come out of the second in spectacular fashion?

My final comment of the night

 

YOU CANNOT POLISH A TURD

 

The entire SIC (not just in recent history) is 'tainted' well beyond a mere surface wipe.

 

Let a highly bristled brush scrape the sharn off the entire carcase that is SIC, let the smell die down, and the real work begin.

 

The brown stuff has well and truly hit the fan.

 

SIC Councillors are more than welcome to post their responses.

 

Strange they are normally grabbing the microphones out of John Johnsons or Mike Grundens mouth to state their case; and the past week they are 'on holiday' or 'unable to comment'. Ah well, that makes a first.

 

Like most councillors, they are as welcome as a fart in a space suit.

Drinking on SIC premises is only allowed with the permission of the management on special occasions, such as Xmas parties.

 

Aye, and thats okay. On this occasion though it was the management himself was allegedly having a piss up, so maybe he gave himself permission to drink. He seems to be insinuating so anyway, by stating he'd taken the afternoon off.

 

Its good Wills rattles cages and doesn't let anyone become complacent, skeleton rattling can only help in keeping down on mutual back scratching sessions et al, but with this one I think he's been a bit too hasty and mittened on to a rather dry bone thats going to end up being pretty tasteless and hard to chew.

 

Nobody is going to walk away from this pointless fiasco and take any honour from it with them, its time for all concerned to gather up their respective scattered toys and put them back in their respective prams, get on with the jobs they're being paid for, and stop wasting everyone's time and money.

 

Whats worrying me now is just what other "bad news" is being quickly and quietly buried behind the scenes, while this charade is drawing everyone's attention centre stage.

This I can agree with. There's been a crying out need for a good old wire brush and Dettol treatment session in certain chambers on the Hillhead for a long time.

The council has sought to limit public speculation into the whole affair, with senior management sending an email to all SIC employees yesterday warning them not to discuss the subject of their chief executive with members of the press.

 

i know its common to gag employees and prevent them going outside their organization. but it can lead to worse mistakes being covered up.

 

how can an employee if they had a complaint against one of the senior managers feel comfortable that the complaint will be handled fairly.

 

Is there a whistle blowers charter in the sic as there is in the nhs.

 

If there are problems within the council they need to be cleared up not hidden from the public.

 

if someone did complain imagine what effect it could have on them.
