Maybe a seperate thread may help with this. If you see an offending vehilce either on a disabled bay or double yellow then simply list it here. If I were to park in a disabled space I would surely have something said to me or even face a fine but if disabled users park in parent and child then that's ok! As a contractBetween Tesco and the vehicle driver has not been entered into theSpaces and their allocation and use is unenforcabe.I will see if the article is still in my archive system. Scorrie Posted September 1, 2011 Report Share Posted September 1, 2011 Parking spaces allocated for the disabled on private property (ie: Tescos in this case) are not under the Traffic Wardens remit. He/she only has powers to deal with parking offences on the highway or in Council controlled car parks. Unfortunately outfits like Tescos are so 'image' concious and terrified of any negative feedback that they'll sooner let people abuse the disabled facilities rather than confront the offender. Poor sod has to walk further to get in the store? Tough titty as far as the supermarkets are concerned, they can pretend it's the offending drivers fault and not have to get involved.....mustn't do anything to damage their squeaky clean, nice and friendly to everyone image...God forbid... scoots Posted September 1, 2011 Report Share Posted September 1, 2011 Malcolm, you said your disability is insufficient to warrant a Blue Badge, yet you cannot walk distances? I would try again, my friend. A family member was recently provided with a Blue Badge, based on a doctor's assessment of their using a staff to get about, and that they could not walk distances without pain and discomfort. Nothing else was required. That was only a few weeks ago, so maybe things have improver over what seems to me to be your extremely unfair treatment by the Council-run scheme. As for this parking, I posted in the Tall Ships thread about these articles who park up and breeze away, able-bodied and kiddy-free, while disabled and parents struggle. It is worse here in Shetland than most places I have lived, and many of the folk I see doing it could do with working off some of the ample "winter stores" they are all carrying!! OP8S Posted September 1, 2011 Report Share Posted September 1, 2011 Yes Malcom, appeal against the desicion a.s.a.p. , my 70+ year old mother didn't get her blue badge renewed this year, no explanations to it. She can only walk very short distances due to a number of medical complaints. It seems like all benefits applied for nowadays are often refused first time around but when the person appeals against the decision " hey, presto ! " they get whatever benefit or concession that was applied for. Seems to be happening a lot with disablity benefits nowadays but what other can you expect when the DWP puts matters such as that out to private tender ( they have in England anyway ) & to a French company at that ! Honestly you couldn't make it up. I certainly don't agree with people claiming benefits that they may not be entitled to, but ultimately the people that are in need of these benefits & are entitled to them are placed under undue stress, worrying whether the benefits that they may of been on quite legitametly for a number of years are often refused on their first " re-assesment ", meaning that they have to do without until they appeal & get it all sorted out.
