shetlandpeat
While increasing numbers on the organ donation register are undoubtedly a good thing, perhaps NHS managers could have chosen a more sensitive formulation for this internal memo: “We are thrilled to be able to announce this financial year for the first time ever, there were 1,011 deceased organ donors in the United Kingdom.†The note memo then goes onto provide fodder for conspiracy nuts: “Of course, these increases have not happened by chance, they are the result of concerted efforts by our dedicated team of specialist nurses.†http://politicalscrapbook.net/2011/05/nhs-organ-donation-memo/

blue beetle
The council is always harping on about depopulation . And at the same time they are turning away Shetland graduates because they lack experience. These poor students set off south at great expence to themselves and thier parents graduate after 5 yrs hard graft and what do they get for all this effort from our council and healthboard. No job unless youve got experience. If all employers had that attitude no one would ever get a job. I am assuming that in order to get experience there must be some employer on the mainland willing to train university graduates. So i can see no reason why they cant get this chance at home. Either you want people to live here and come back here or you dont.Lets face it Shetland isnt for everyone. At least the students who have lived here know what its like.So come on SIC introduce a graduate training scheme for Shetland students. It could be paid for out of the relocation grants you waste on the "experienced" fly by night merchants you normaly employ.
jz
^^ The SIC already has a Graduate Placement Scheme It is not restricted to exclusively Shetland graduates, so is perhaps not quite what you want.
