exciseman
Apparently a faceless, brainless and spineless creature has been found in the waters off Orkney – must be similar to those creatures we see occasionally in Lerwick Town Hall.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-16346065

ArabiaTerra
Too funny not to share: http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2012/02/25/fbi-turns-off-thousands-of-gps-devices-after-supreme-court-ruling/ After a recent court ruling the FBI turned off 30,000 GPS trackers. They are now applying for warrants to turn them back on again... so they can find them! Edit: Ooops, that should be 3000.
MJ
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17194606 "The journalist, who remains on bail on suspicion of phone hacking and corruption, was lent the retired police horse in 2008, the Met said. Mrs Brooks paid for food and vet bills until it was rehoused with a police officer in 2010." So let me get this right, the woman took on a retired police horse until it could be re-homed. She stabled, fed and paid veterinary costs for 2 years. Being a keen horsey person and married to a racehorse trainer she was well equipped to foster a older horse until a suitable home was found. Where is the scandal? Why has this been on every news bulletin today? Do people have any idea how much it costs to look after a horse for 2 years? Not that I particularly approve of the woman, but why something that'd usually be counted as a good deed suddenly be counted as something that should be treated as a crime? I'm confuzald? (she saved the Met somewhere between £6,500 & £10,000 pa)
DizzyKipper
I think the point is she supposedly returned it in a 'poor' state see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17200560 Also that it could have been seen as cosying up between the police and the press, so lending her a horse might not have been such a wise move, even if it was all innocent.
