Malcolm
Though I have a high level arthritic condition I wouldn't get the CWP, but I do feel sorry for those on a low income with arthritis in this ruddy weather.
MJ
Rules aren't easy to find but seem to remember that the air temp needs to be under 0'c everyday for one calender week ie sun to sat or was it mon to sun. So one day where it doesn't get to be under 0 writes off an entire week. Temp values used are met office, not necessarily that local, as you'll have noticed weather in lerwick has been mild. Rasmie
The temperatures we have been getting are relatively mild compared to the rest of the UK. Haven't even been getting any decent wind to bring on the chill factor. This is the winter weather we should expect as a norm. No point going dawn souf to keep warm! unless the Med or further.friends on the mainland are all shivering. The roads haven't really been blocked yet, guess that's still to come in a month or three!Maybe the bairns will enjoy the sledging we used to get 50 years ago! PJ of Hildisvik
Some parts of Shetland have had very low temps for a month now.The temps recorded on A 300ft hill facing south out of Lerwick are hardly indicative of the rest of the Isles.(hence no cold weather payments for Shetland)
hoosn
i shouldnt think the cold weather payment be will easy to get at all, as with all the other supposed things , christ, they cant even get tax credit right
JustMe
I have just checked on the government's own website and a cold weather payment is due for the ZE1 and ZE2 areas. People from ZE3 can check for themselves.

Guest Anonymous
a hundred years ago temps like those posted above would be common at the obsevatory in LK but now with the expasion of the town it rarely gets as cold there as the rest of the isle, yet that is the temp used by the global warming alalrmists to prove their pet theories.funny how observation by folk with no financial interest in proving AGW differs so much from the bull we are being force fed
EM
Back in the 80's fedder got one of those little thermometers which attach outside to a window frame and can be read by looking out through the window. He soon realised that it was useless, but never removed it. For interest I had a look at what it is reading today. A balmy +23 deg C no less
