sassermaet
Is this safe, do you think? I can't help but wonder... http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20090706/tbs-ryanair-fly-for-free-if-you-stand-up-327c223.html
Twerto
I assume that when they say this The company has asked Boeing to look at the possibility of converting its planes or delivering a new fleet with "vertical seating". that you will be strapped in, in soem form
JAStewart
I'd do that for a short flight, sure.
Michael
I'd be happy to do that.
Spinner72
I'd prefer to stand up as it is on trips to and from Shetland, so a definite yes for me!
JAStewart
Wait - how would this save money? Surely a paying customer in a seat is better than getting rid of seats and shoving people on for free? Moreso, if this is free by ryanair standards, it'll just mean that your flight, which costs 1p anyway, will be free, but don't for get the £29.98 tax! And the bagsAnd the travel insuranceAnd the toilet charge
filskadacat
To say nothing of the fact that Ryanair serve gin in little plastic bags which look for all the world as though they ought to be connected to a drip, and caused one of my friends on a trip to Dublin to suggest to me I had forgotten my hypodermic. Given that the cabin crew thought ginger beer was an acceptable substitute for tonic I handed said bags back to the attendant and told her I thought I would just wait till we arrived, thank you. I've never flown with them myself, but I know a lot of folk who have done and I get the impression it's through tax / baggage etc. that Ryanair make their money. They're not about to fall into administration any time soon.
sheepshagger
Just flown easyjet for the first time and no complaints apart from the seat not reclining, even though I slept from before take off till landing, both ways, so certain routes fit the budget flight model, ie the ones your too f****d to notice. And for the sake of staying on topic I would of slept standing up if they strapped me in. engineer21
have too say theres nothing worse than someone reclining there damm seat!! no need for it! def my pet hate about flying! esp when the meal is served and you ask the person in front who is the only one with seat reclined to put it up and met witha disgruntled look!!not aimed at you personally sheepshagger but after seeing your remark it brought out the rant in me!! Rant Over
JAStewart
FlyBe was pretty bad for the first price you see not being the price you pay. My flight back from London was £25. Right? Wrong. It ended up being £75 after going through all the screens.
JustMe
Just needs a simple change in the law to make all airlines quote a fare that is available for travel without extras. As in the likes of Flybe would have to quote a fare including all taxes and that could be booked without any extra charges using one common payment card. Njugle
This seems like part of a trend toward efficient third world public transport in the UK. Trains overflowing and requiring that you stand, Northlink encourage you to sleep on the floor for up to 14hrs without proper washroom facilities, Ryan air now offering an incentive to fly standing up. I look forward to the next logical step of having the choice to cling onto the roof of the aeroplane (I've always fancied wing-walking) and the ferry choice to doss down in the livestock transporters with goats and chickens. It would be perhaps more restful than the forward bar. Damn it, I'm cross threading here aren't I, bad Njugle.
shetlandpeat
No, you have not heard then, you need a small inlatable and a long line and for a pound they will tow you all the way to Aberdeen, you could set a world water ski record or summint, but that may cost you 2 pounds. You could aso have foot pegs on the under carriage of the plane....
