Guest Anonymous
this thread started from an existing thread in the "Music" forum which wandered slightly off topic. This new thread addresses why HTML code has been disabled from messages. Cheers, peeriebryan hang on once more if not the forget it lolhttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a122/ichorus/stmbanner.gif[/i]

peeriebryan
HTML formating is indeed turned off. It is possible to destroy the formatting of the forum pages if HTML is allowed in posts. We chose to disable HTML in the very early days of the forums due to problems with tags being left open, area widths bigger than the page being specified and a host of other formatting issues. Sorry for the limitation, but to allow HTML use would open a can of worms for the Shetlink team! If you want to carry on discussing the pros/cons of HTML use in posts, I'll split this thread and move this discussion to the "Welcome to Shetlink" forum, so the MySpace thread can stay on topic. Cheers, Bryan

See http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/faq.php?mode=bbcode for examples. Cheers, BryanIt might be an idea to put some info on BBcode, giving some basic examples that people could copy, perhaps in your FAQ? As in http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/misc.html?do=bbcode or even just a link to a site which lists examples.
peeriebryan
There already is a BB Code guide, but its tucked away in the nether regions of the FAQs http://www.shetlink.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=faq&mode=bbcode We should perhaps make the guide a bit more accessible. We're on the case......
