This piece of trash should have been left in the country she was jailed in,

she got pregnant while in jail to avoid a death sentance and now we have gone crawling to the Laos government to free her.

We can only imagine what kind of mother she will make a piss poor one at best the cynical bitch.

She was happy enough to deal in death so why should we get her let off with a death sentence.

This government and courts do damn all to prevent a guy getting sent to the states for a show trial for computer hacking, yet is quite happy to help free smack dealers.

Without knowing for certain whether she was up to her eyeballs in it and went anyway, knowing the risks, but was driven by greed. Or, whether she was just a stupid brain dead mule that was taken advantage of, its not an easy one to make a call on.

I would say that the cynical way she got pregnant shows just what sort of person she is, being pregnant only stopped her getting executed not freedom so she was willing for her kid to be born in a Laos jail and even grow up there or in a laos orphanage. cynical manipulating bitch in my humble opinion

Regarding the guy getting sent to the States for infiltrating miltary computers. He is cool At last he has celebrities on his case including Sting's wife.. And he shouldn't be sent to the US for trial... They should be offering him a job!!

Sheepshagger I must say your remarks about the woman jailed for life for trafficking smack are quite offensive. We all deserve a second chance and make mistakes. But being executed for transporting drugs isn't on.

Can you imagine what this woman went through to save herself? She was in a prison in Laos and got pregnant via a prison guard or whatever.. Maybe could of been raped!! She may even have contracted HIV or any number of STD's. Who knows?

She has now been freed and in the imminent future is about to give birth to a baby. No doubt she will be a good mother unless her experience in Laos makes her give up her baby.

I am not for smack courier's but how many deal here? A lot. When caught do they have to go to the extreme of getting pregnant to save theirselves from a firing squad.. I think not.

Smack is a lethal substance that destroys lives wherever and whenever it is in a community.

But the fact is she went to a country that does execute for dealing in drugs and got involved in dealing drugs, if she was forced to do it what was to stop her going straight to the authorities at the airport when those that forced her would be nowhere near and telling them she was forced before they caught her not after as was the case.

How do you know she wasn't raped?? I'm not particularly concerned with what happens to the woman, she did what she did,but that child did not choose to exist and should be given the best possible opportunity, something s/he would get being born in the UK rather than a Laos prison.

Cannot really go for any of the options. Certainly she should stay in jail here until she becomes eligible for parole under our rules because that is what the authorities in Laos have agreed to and it is important for the UK to be viewed internationally as a state which sticks to this sort of deal.

 

Seem to recall seeing a television programme about mothers keeping babies with them in jail in the UK until they reach a certain age but would have to wonder if the best deal for the baby would be to be offered for adoption.

 

The issue of the computer hacker is of course nothing to do with this case but concerns our agreement with the US to extradite British Citizens to the US if they are wanted by their government. I am kind of worried by this on two counts. First is that whatever the guy did was, as I understand it, done from a computer in the UK and that really our courts ought to try him and second that jails in the US may not meet all the standards for jails as described in human rights legislation so we could well be guilty of infringing his human rights if we sent him to the US.

 

Where the two topics could join is the conditions of jails in Laos where it was quite probably reasonable for our government to "rescue" this young woman from the jail and might also be reasonable to refuse to extradite her or any other UK citizen to Laos should the authorities there demand it.

^ Yep, all true, the poll is despicable, the argument put across so abhorrent it makes the whole discussion unworkable. Thread locking is the only solution. As Fjool says, start again if you can think of a reasonable way to discuss it.
