As far as I can see..all this hype has given the BNP exactly what they were looking for...Lots of publicity and all for free..After all how much do the rest of our MP,s dole out on publicising their campain ideas?

 

On the subject of the holocaust I have personal experience of looking after a lady who survived Belsen....As far as I see it this deniel of what happened is only because they are too ashamed to accept the fact...

Nick Griffin had a good line, which Jack Straw had no answer when they were speaking about Churchill, was to point out that whilst his own father had served in the RAF, Straw’s father served jail time for refusing to fight fascism!

 

I didn't think that was a good line. It was irrelevant and deliberately intended to be hurtful rather than respond to the actual point. It got a boo from the audience and quite rightly so. The actions of one's parents have no relevance.

 

Like father like son? As while Jack Straw was at Brentwood he opted out of the compulsory CCF (combined cadet force) on conscientious grounds.

 

If more people had been like his spineless father then we would have lost the war. It seems his ideals rubbed on to his son, thats the point Griffon was getting at. Straw was a communist and most folk seem to forget they killed and caused far more misery than any facists.

 

so his dad was spineless. i think maybe not. can you imagine what bottle it took to refuse to serve. for him to be in jail he clearly even refused to do none combative service. are the Quakers spineless cowards. its easy to attack people when your nice and safe.

I thought Griffon was right when he said that Churchill (who was voted as the greatest Britain not long ago) would have voted for them as a lot of his views were similar such as:

just thought i would try and see how muc you would take to someone with a different view on things.

 

obviously someone else, other than the people on the straight and narrow minded approach to life cant have their own view.

how come none of them were white then?

 

they werent british, they may have british passports but they must be from a foreign country of some sort.

It does seem easy for slagging matches to develop. Maybe some hair-trigger topics should branch off into a group (there haven't been any when I've checked) where interested parties could slog it out in a suitably flameproof environment without frightening the horses.

 

Topics like the BNP, or Israel, in particular, practically invoke Godwin's Law ("As a (Usenet) discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1") just by existing. The Law seems just as valid for forums other than Usenet.

 

Back on topic, what a waste of time - another slagging match (yawn). Better (as Dray said in that Grauniad link) to let him talk about as much as possible and, as we used to say, damn himself out of his own mouth - or not, as the case may be.

 

I'm no BNP supporter, but I know one or two people who are considering them quite seriously because, like it or not, they have picked up on the fact that an awful lot of people in the UK are not at all happy with the way things are going. Quite a bit of their support is probably due to the "Plague on All Their Houses" vote, and I wonder whether it's not that aspect which frightens mainstream politicians off proper discussion with them.

 

Like us forum posters, let them all be free to talk about everything. If that talk reveals stuff our complacent and controlling leaders don't like, good, maybe they could try representing us for a change.

they were born in britain 2nd or 3rd generation that err makes them British. not sure what your race is but they are just as British as you. just because some folks are different does not change that. if your born here live here and treat this island as your home then you are British. by the way there is no British race or even European were the same race dupid.

I'm pretty amazed by the discussion here.

 

I watched the highlights of the BBC show this morning in the office and thought that the mister made quite a fool of himself.

 

And for the Holocaust: I don't see hoe this can matter in this discussion.

And I even less understand how anyone could actually believe the holocaust hasn't happened.

I strongly recommend a visit to Auschwitz or Buchwald. Or maybe to live a couple of years in Germany and to actually meet survivors of the Holocaust.

 

Edit: And for anyone claiming "British" or any other Nationality is a "race" I recomment strongly some lecture on genetics!

Yes the BNP has the same right as any other party to freedom of speech. Yes the beeb was right to allow them a chair on question time.

But why the publicity?

For those who watched it shame on you, to give that man and his party credance by the increased viewing figures.

let the BNP pay for it's publicity like any other party, not have the tax payer do it for them.
