Evil Inky
The weather. If it could be like this summer was all year round, that would be nice.
shetlander
The councillors You already have the opportunity to do that every 4 or 5 years - and have a bash at standing yourself if you think you can do a better job.
EM
Demolish the BT exchange building and build absolutely anything else in its place. It is a completely wasted prime site with, IMHO, Shetland's ugliest building.
sailor
a bit of nimbyism there EM? i have to agree it is not the most elegant of buildings for note there was a nuclear bunker built in the exchange. i am not sure if it still exists but interesting all the same. we may need it yet although it probably was only built for twartree!! one thing i would like to change about shetland is banning weddings from the sailing season. we only have four months and people consistantly pick the best regatta weekends for their vows. EM
a bit of nimbyism there EM?Certainly the case, though I would point out that I don't have a proper "view" of it from inside. As I pointed out I would welcome it changing into just about anything, I even suggested to one councillor I'd consider an abatoir to be an improvement for note there was a nuclear bunker built in the exchange. i am not sure if it still exists but interesting all the same.Do you have a credible source for that? I've been asking about that belief and it is universally denied by councillors and even the labourers who built it. It certainly goes deep into the hill (sideways), I know this because the site was an excellent "adventure" playground when I was a sprog.
Marooned in Maywick
It sounds like anything but NIMBYism. EM has stated that he'd welcome almost anything other than the monstrosity that is currently there...which sounds like AIMBYism.
EM
But he's right about Not the existing thing. Nimbyism is usually applied to people not wanting something built near them, but as he shows, it is applicable when people want rid of something which already exists
Marooned in Maywick
Actually I see I missed out a letter in my acronym...it should've been anything else in my back yard i.e. AEIMBYism. Hmmm...AEI...? Is the footprint sufficient for a multi-storey new school?

The monkeys in Edinburgh Zoo could do a better job "You already have the opportunity to do that every 4 or 5 years " There is something to be said for the opportunity to do that every year never mind 4 or

Kaleidoscope Disco
Why? The service is subisidised any way, why get it for free? I think the charge should be brought back, the ferry service is expensive, so lets keep it at least semi viable.
tarotangel
Probably the travel expense but apart from that pretty happy.

xoni
Folk that come here and try and change everything. If youre going to up sticks and move somewhere better you research the place inside out than move on a whim and then spend the rest of the time here pissing and moaning about how rubbish it is.
