Anything out of a jar! Yep, had to get them from Solloties or Universal Stores and hide then in your locker at the hostel, in case the hostel corbies came around to steal your stuff!

And I remember the Russian fishing fleet landing and buying EVERY single sweetie in the local shop - they bought everything, jars and all!

Also spent a fortune on dental work as I got older!

Am a big fan of penny sweeties, 2pence fizzy cola bottles from the late eighties, fizzy fish, flying saucers, 2pence fangs, banana shapes, astro belts. At 60 North Youth Club you used to be able to help yourself to these sweeties. "how much is in the bag?" the youth leader would ask, 30 pences worth would be the reply.

Penny sweeties were and are great. When I worked at Taylors Strewberry Fizzpops were a weakness of mine, they were strawberry lolipops with sherbet.

Does anyone remember Secret bars quite a girly one I think. It had a chocolate mouse thing in the middle and chocolate on the outside but it was strands of chocolate on the outside not solid, if that makes sense.

Yeh! I mind Lucky Bags. Dey hed twa wrapped carmels, and yun horrible 'violet sweeties'. An you used ta git some kinda peerie plastic object in dem!! Dey wir braa at da time.

I used ta laek sherbit lollies. A pink coloured lollypop in a peerie bag o sherbit - dat wis a favourite o mine for a while durin da mid 60s. Dan dey seemed ta geen (an so did Titch n Quackers, Animal Magic, n Tales fae Europe - bairn's progs whin aa we hed wis b&w n BBC1).

Fae an ice craem point a view, splits wir good. Raspberry eens an lime eens. We cud git ice lollies fae Robins Brae shop for trippence (3 old pennies) an used ta go every day on wir wye hame fae skol. Sometimes, we bought 'Rockets', a ice lolly dat lookid laek a rocket. Hit wis raspberry, orange n lemon. Brawly gud, hit wis!! An, on very special occasions, such as da last day o da term, we got a peerie bit mair pocket money, an cud git a 'heart' (for a shillin - 5 new pence), Walls ice cream wi bits a raspberry in hit, aa covered wi chocolate. Whit a traet dat wis!!

Do you remember when those white chocolate skulls wi red cream inside came out - I remember buying them fae da Kantersted shop. There was a bit o a stushie aboot dem at da time if I mind right.
