Does anybody think Old Firm fans seem to moan about the other team rather than see their own teams faults?

When are we going to realise that our game is cra? Our national teams best effort at qualifying for a tournament is hoping to get second and win a playoff.

The amazing old firm think that they are some of the biggest clubs in europe and want to join some super league that they might do well to finish second bottom.

The rest of the teams seem to try harder when the old firm are in town and get a full house for more cash.

Scottish teams have to realise that we are a third rate nation in football terms and try to improve to get at least to a second rate nation.

:D

Rangers canna even get a result against the 5th place team in the romanian league. This says it all. No scottish team has performed in europe this seasson!

Scottish fitbaa sucks, the standard is down so much from 10 years ago, but how can you compete when Rangers and Celtic only get 1-2million when they win the league fae da tv whereas Hull, Birmingham, Burnley etc get relegated they are getting 20-30 million and have billionaires taking over you just can't compete.

I do think though if they joined it would be a different story as the fan base is massive and if money was pumped in which I believe it would be they would attract a higher standard of players (I'm not saying they would win the prem) but I do think give them a couple of years and you would see them up around 5th,6th,7th spot.

The only matches I watch is Old firm and Europe and that's is even pretty grim!!

Why can't they join?? Cardiff,Wrexham, Swansea, Berwick Rangers.....???

If they join is there not a risk of achieving the mere obscurity that the teams you suggested have achieved. None of those look anytghing like achieving top 6 EPL status within the next decade (unless obviously the man city effect happens to them). Plus if they did go to England, they would not be able to just step right into the EPL (teams such as Hull, Birmingham, Pompey and the championship clubs would be RAGING with that - and understandably so.)

Therefore the OF would have to start in the conference, so it may not be so simple to just get into the EPL as all their top players will undoubted;ly leave. Plus for the first few years they would get even less TV money!

England don't want the Old Firm and their baggage. The Northern Atlantic Diddy League is pie in the sky !

The fact is Rangers and Celtic have had their own way in Scottish football and it has destroyed any competition. They are almost guarenteed a crack at the Champions League each year, enjoy blanket media coverage, the league structure is based around them and they even enjoy privelages in the rules denied to other clubs.

Now they are reaping what they sowed as the English teams awash with Sky TV money do the same to them. The fact is Scottish Football as a product is awful and the only way that will change is when the powers at be start focusing on whats good for the game and not just the greedy demands of two clubs. Is a highlights programme at 11pm on Monday nights with a blink and you will miss it clip of the match really going to attract Kids to the game. What about the weekly ESPN broadcast of which ever Old Firm team is away from home, usualy in half empty stadiums in one sided contests....is this really the way to showcase the SPL. Then there's the ticket prices, the half empty stadiums etc etc.

Like it or not Rangers and Celtic will have to adapt to their situation in the same way Hibs Aberdeen Hearts etc have....by bringing through the players they can no longer afford to buy. If Scottish Football wants to improve it must start sharing the spoils more evenly, have a larger league which allows non-old firm teams a chance to close the gap and a media which looks to promote the game and encourage people to get out and support their local club.

The Old Firm are stuck in Scottish Football and it's high time they got around the table with the other clubs and looked at how they can improve the product and not just their own bank balances. The bottom line is they are not going anywhere !

It maybe could have been better worded but I got the jist of it from the get go, in that the OF and their support are blaming the rest of Scottish football for their general malaise? eg "Scottishh football is crap, so that is why we the old firm are crap?"

It is a well publicised fact that the OF wish to leave Scottish football to improve their financial situation, especially now that Walter Smith has come out and stated that HBOS is pulling the financial strings Glasgow Rangers Football Club now and every player is for sale. So is Scottish football the reason that the Old firm are struggling to compete on the big stage or is it their own mismangement?
