jimmy parks
Having spoken with various people about this today , the feeling was unanimous that caroline miller should be removed from her position with immediate effect. Along with her everybody I spoke to thought that Sandy (**MOD EDIT **) should also be ordered to stand down and is widely regarded as the most useless and dopiest convener ever! Hopefully more people will vote at the next council elections as most of the cretins in the town hallb are there by default Notwithstanding the personal attacks this surely has to be one of the silliest posts ever. The last par in particular makes no sense at aa. Default??? What on earth is butt-cheese talking about. Miller may well be proved guilty but until then it may be better if people joost calm down a little. PS I liked the words of the Julian Arcus guy mentioned in the paper: "Wills ego farce!" Gorgonzola Butt-cheese
Well if you think its silly thats your opinion , but everybody I had spoken to on that particular day and also everybody since thinks it long overdue to get rid of the dead and rotten wood in our council ( and its often not me who brought up the topic of conversation , there is wide spread embarresment and outrage with this bunch of muppets) and sandy (** mod edit **) name always crops up as dithering idiot numero uno. They Have had there break for christmas , which I dont think they deserved and look forward for them being booted out as soon as possible . And yes the extremely low voter turnout means that many of them are there by default . Para Handy
All we need now is for sandy (**mod edit**) and Disaster Gordon to get 5 more years to screw the country just a little bit more just what we need the Shetland version of the wacky races. Oddrun
In Norway all game is protected during Christmas and New Year. All kind of hunting is strictly prohibited from December 24th until January 2nd...I think this law should be used in Shetland too.... ....or this thread should be locked ...it has just ended up with a lot of bull poo.... JAStewart
And yes the extremely low voter turnout means that many of them are there by default .How low is extremely low? The average turnout of the 2007 council elections was 58.92%, slightly below national average. Looking at the results, please do indicate who deserves to win each constituency. The STV system is the most fair system we currently have to elect councillors, if you are unsatisfied with the current bunch, please do stand as a councillor. If you are that sure your views are shared with your fellow islanders, you shouldn't have a problem getting elected! Our next local elections are in 2012, I look forward to reading your manifesto. Guest Anonymous
I have to admit that I'm somewhat ashamed of the fact that I sometimes post personal attacks. Which I am only ashamed about because it makes me look like a politician,,,, Let's face it, that's all politicians ever do. But. I'm even a little bit more ashamed that Shetlinkers can't hold off with their venom for a few more days until the festive season is over. It would be very nice of us all if the mods didn't have to censor our stupidity for a while. Let's give them a rest until next year.
shetlandpeat
These folk are only there for a short spell in the big life of things. To be a considerate person is to know when to hold off sometimes. Get some facts straight and use only truthful, sustantiated arguments. The whole world looks at this forum, the whole world (imo) deserves to visit our jewel boxed Isles. And we should show a little decorum. Encourage the world to come. I don't think that a miriad of personal insults would attract anyone to even contemplate a visit. unlinkedstudent
It is the early hours of the morning so I apologise if I appear to ramble but ... ... I really can't get this "hold off during the festive season stuff". I may well only have lived in Shetland for a few months and I'm still trying to absorb all of what has gone on but ... ... I can't help feeling a tad sorry for Chris Hodge (is that his name?), the guy who has gone bankrupt as a result of this very sorry state of affairs. Now I'm not advocating that personal attacks should take place on Shetlink which, if I understand it, shouldn't happen anyway due to the T&Cs but I fail to see why, because it happened to be Christmas (and Christmas has now gone albeit only by a few days), that we should not debate - err sensibly(?) what may or may not have occurred. In essence, in my humble opinion, I think if we didn't debate what has gone on (and continues to go on?) and hopefully strive to see justice done/the truth come out, then what message are we sending out to Chris Hodge and anyone who may have suffered an allegedly wrongdoing? Waffle ends!
