Ghostrider
I kent whit he ment...Then please elucidate It is the box aspect I don't grasp. Weather map? Fishing map? Presented and packaged by the tourist board I suspect, but then again what do I know about poetry. I can't even make up my mind whether any two words rhyme properly or no. Colin
I can't help feeling a tad sorry for Chris Hodge (is that his name?), the guy who has gone bankrupt as a result of this very sorry state of affairs. I did a fair bit of work for Chris whilst he was in the Judane factory and, as far as I am concerned, neither the Millers or SIC caused Chis Hodge's bankruptcy. The root cause of Chris's problems was that his goods were (in the main) to cheap and that the people of Shetland did not support him in sufficient numbers to make it pay. Poor cash flow meant that he found it difficult to pay wages, suppliers, rent etc. Blaming his demise on the Millers (who helped him as much as they could) and the SIC is just wrong. unlinkedstudent
^^ Well, the "fun and games" involving the Millers/SIC can't have helped the cash flow situation then, eh?
hoosn
In Norway all game is protected during Christmas and New Year. All kind of hunting is strictly prohibited from December 24th until January 2nd...I think this law should be used in Shetland too.... ....or this thread should be locked ...it has just ended up with a lot of bull poo....absolutely, or change the name of the website to JUDANE, surely the topic is about exhausted anyway
JAStewart
The reason we should leave them is because Xmas is a stressful time of year already let alone with some people giving mindless attacks to your person.

paulb
in most councils a person would be under investigation for these complaints. Is the SIC investigating them. if they were to investigate them properly then most folks would be happy. but there has not been any mention of an investigation. why not. serious allegations have been made. i agree personal attacks are not needed. the woman is either guilty or not but it has to be looked at. JAStewart
the woman is either guilty or not but it has to be looked at.And speculation will do no good. Let the SIC/Police whoever do their work for now.
shetlander
And yes the extremely low voter turnout means that many of them are there by default .How low is extremely low? The average turnout of the 2007 council elections was 58.92%, slightly below national average. Looking at the results, please do indicate who deserves to win each constituency. The STV system is the most fair system we currently have to elect councillors, if you are unsatisfied with the current bunch, please do stand as a councillor. If you are that sure your views are shared with your fellow islanders, you shouldn't have a problem getting elected! Our next local elections are in 2012, I look forward to reading your manifesto. Indeed JAS, but as usual come election time folk will continue to sit on their moaning backsides waiting and speculating as to who (other than them of course) might stand whilst reciting the same old tosh that they would consider doing so if it wasn’t for.... And post election, give it a few months and the whingeing will start all over again, just like it always does.
Colin
why not. serious allegations have been made. Mostly by people (yourself included) who know very little, or nothing, of the circumstances. i agree personal attacks are not needed. And what you are doing is not personal? the woman is either guilty or not but it has to be looked at. The woman (presumably you mean Caroline Miller) is INNOCENT until proven guilty and, to the best of my knowledge (or yours for that matter), has absolutely nothing to hide. It is a pity that the Millers have been restrained ('gagged') from making any public comments. If it helps, they are all in the phone book. scooper
I know for a fact that there workers had to take them to court for redundancy pay when Judane closed down so i dont think they are exactly squeaky clean when it comes to handing over cash!!!! oddtablet
I agree with some of "Colin's " previous posts regarding Mr Hodge being responsible for his own demise. However I disagree with his latest post. Surely Mr & Mrs Millers have 'refused' to say anything and have attempted to gag certain folk ? The Shetland Community must have answers and an investigation will resolve the matter. It is crucial that the investigator be independent. Hope all Shetlinkers at home and away have had a peaceful Christmas and accept my good wishes to everyone for 2010.
