Dratsy
Wonder if they will now repay their loan in full ? that would display a level of integrity that has been somewhat lacking in all their past dealings
icepick239
Just settling down the other night to watch Simon King and Family amongst the Gannets fishing off Noss.I wonder, was that the 'Judane Boat' they were using?
ll
I note that 'ourproperty.co.uk' is showing that Judane (Shetland) Ltd sold the old mill at Lower Blackhill Ind. Estate to T&N Joinery on 19th August 2011 for £580,479. Wonder if they will now repay their loan in full ? Think it sounds like this has been written off. http://www.shetlandtimes.co.uk/2010/01/20/six-weeks-on-council-makes-first-public-comment-on-400000-judane-debt-write-off There is a company that lists Judane as one of its 'clients' - anyone heard of them??!! http://www.dalzell.org.uk/page5.html Someone else from that company did pretty well from the SIC. After scooping £100k for their last boat, have they managed to get any more cash for the one named at the pier today? http://www.shetlandtimes.co.uk/2008/08/08/council-money-is-snapped-up-by-well-heeled-firms

icepick239
Yes, it would be proper to receive a final accounting, regarding Judane...Failing an answer by Mr & Mrs Miller, then perhaps SIC Officials could supply the requisite information.... This after all, was public funds..
George.
It was public funds but now that it's been stolen by the thieves that got away with it, it's rather private funds - or so I was told.

Well Mr / Mrs / Ms Miller, perhaps the moderators are like all decent people and wonder how a company with a councillor as a director can claim poverty and not have to repay a £440,000 loan by getting it written off, then pocket the near £600,000 from the sale of the building ! paulb
very extreme. read the T&C. however due to folks using the rules to their advantage they get to keep money that they should have repaid. If you can't trust a council member to be doing their all for the public good you do have to ask should they be on the council and should they really have a say in how the trusts are run. I think a rule that you can't be on any trust if you have had a grant/loan. if you have failed to repay the money intrusted to you then you should not be able to gain any form of aid even if your just a spouse or advisor for any limited company. maybe the directors should have to borrow the money personally that way a company can't fold and the directors are still wealthier than most of the islanders they borrowed money from. its not thieft but its happened to often to be an accident. Obviously there was some form doubt from fellow councillors who made the following complaint. I know they were 'cleared' but the whole thing whiff a bit. http://www.shetnews.co.uk/news/2812-standards-commission-are-back.html She probably has enough other interests including plenty jointly held with the Judane boss.
