Just back fae a night in Guilberwick up over the hills towards scalloway doing some navigating and snow holing. You can really appreciate how folk get killed oot there. Up on the summit o the hill you really couldn't see a single thing and would be a gonner in no time without a compass/map and headlamp. In the time I was up on the hill three cars had gone off the road between the junction at Guilberwick (scalloway een) and lerwick. Although they aint there anymore you can see where they had gone off. There are many more tracks where folk have been close to going off. It's bloody slippy, no icy but compacted snow. Hellish stuff and the blowing wind is pushing snow onto the roads. Just as well no much came doonAlthough I'm dissapointed we didn't get the dunken the weather warning said (looking at sat24.com it lookedlike we were to get a bit!) And also where did these cars go off, do you mean on the main road heading north into lerwick from the south end, between the black gaet junction and the top of the sound brae? Leask's will not pick up pupils from North Nesting for Scalloway junior high and Anderson high schools. Meanwhile, police advise not to travel unless journeys are essential. Rural roads north of Lerwick have areas of particularly heavy snow with drifting. I'm not sure why schools are open if the police are advising against travel?!?
