Thistle / Delting

The point is that the player has never at any point suggested he wished to leave Thistle, prior to this offer of a job. He wasn't unhappy playing for his current club but he clearly wished to take the opportunity of a significant hike in earnings. It was very naive, and I would say Delting, or at least their manager's, conduct is deserving of some form of punishment.

And what punishment would you see fit Mr Jimson?

What laws have Delting Football Club broken?

What should happen to Delting for "unsettling" a player who attended winter training on numerous occasions.

We've established already that you never "had" to be signed for the Highland Fuels, is it not possible that Delting management believed the player to be unsigned and push on with the transfer?

I personally think Bobby (thistle manager) is quite right to refuse to let him go.

What does he gain by doing that ?

I can understand Bobby's frustration of putting in a couple months of hard training with a new club and planning a team round several core players just for this to happen before the season. As I've said before... there was a correct way to go about this and its not been done. By not letting him go he's enforcing the pre-season signing policy of Thistle, which in my opinion Thistle are too pushy with anyway.

i like Wally Jumblat's idea...

Personally I think this situation has been blown out of all proportion, we're not talking about the Premiership here, its amateur football in Shetland. The individual in question personal circumstances has changed, for those of you who are unaware of the entire details of these circumstances you should retract outlandish statements claiming the individual should be banned. For a player with the quality the individual processes to not be playing week in week out just because Thistle won't release him is nothing short of SAD. Not only will it ruin the reputation of Thistle but of Shetland Football as a whole. In other words, please Grow Up!

So, what exactly are you saying? No signing forms at all? Players playing for whoever takes their fancy that particular week?

Away trip to Unst looming? No problem sir, go and play for Spurs this week.

And what exactly does the player's quality have to do with it?

You should apply for a job at the SFA. It's full of people who know nothing about football.

Exactly.

p.s. I reckon Thistle will win the Juvenile League no problem.

The current situation is rare, and I don't think that is because of the rules which are in place.

Surely what is much SADDER is a manager of an amateur football team offering a player a job on the provision that he signs for his football team.

I agree, though, that the player should still be able to play and hopefully this will be resolved quickly.

It seems to me that it seems to be that there are to many bandits in Shetland that think they know the ins and outs of football. Sure everyone is entitled to there own opinion but atleast deliver an opinion which doesn't reek with the essence of - for want of a better word - stale **** I can't personally believe some of the dribble that has been posted on this forum. It's often the case that you have certain folk who never take an interest in the running or organisation of Shetland Football but whenever something controversial pops up then they are the first ones to dive straight in throwing accusations around and blowing the whole thing out of proportion. These folk should go and crawl back into the hole they came out of and leave the running of Shetland Football to the Association and it's members.

As far as your views on the issue go DB i think a closer inspection of the signing on forms will reveal to you a clause allowing one transfer a season should both clubs agree.

I know, here it seems Thistle are reluctant to allow the player to leave, but would they be so reluctant if the other club in question wasn't Delting? One thinks not!

Surely any reasonable person connected with the issue will look at the larger picture and identify the key issues here. That is to say the said players personal circumstances and livelyhood!

Surely this is a greater consideration as opposed to amateur football and in any case similar situations have arisen in years gone by and not even an eyelid has been batted. let's have a look at the bigger picture, PLEASE!

Again, people need to get all the facts first before they fire statements around willy nilly. For someone to say the manager offered the job only if the individual played for his team doesn't know the entire facts, because this isn't the case.

What’s even sadder are all of us arguing about this.

surely it is ultimately the players decision if he wants to leave what would thistle have to gain from having an unhappy player in the dressing room.

Ultimately probably nothing at all.

The bottom line here surely is that he HAS signed two forms, one each for Thistle and Delting, and that is not allowed for very obvious reasons.

For those on here advocating that this issue should just be ignored are deluding themselves. The game needs rules and to be governed, and if any player, far less a higher profile one, is allowed to just ignore those rules then we can all just leave 11 v 11 to it and they can play murder ball - who needs officials and rules?

The player HAS broken a rule and those same rules allow for punishment (suspension/s). At the moment he is not playing through choice. He signed for Thistle and is CHOOSING not to play for them but while his form with them is still in the hands of the Shetland Football Association he can't play for anyone else - simple!

The other disturbing bits or nonsense on here surround allegations of jobs etc. This is completely unnecessary and is nothing to do with football or the case in hand and anyone saying it has is just acting on rumour and hearsay.
