Marooned in Maywick
I've a sneaking suspicion this might be better in the H&C sub-forum but I'll try it here for starters anyway. Quite simply I'm looking for an online image of Da Wheel Bar in its former Mac & Mac livery. Anyone able to help?

Marooned in Maywick
Splendid work EM. Presume that was Robbie Young (ex-Hydro) who was the photographer?

Oddrun
Robbie Young was the photographer, and I've updated Shetlopedia's "Da Wheel" page http://shetlopedia.com/Da_Wheel_Bar Ps : And here is the smittyhttp://photos.shetland-museum.org.uk/index.php?a=wordsearch&s=item&key=WczoxNToiQ29tbWVyY2lhbCBSb2FkIjs=&pg=90 http://photos.shetland-museum.org.uk/index.php?a=wordsearch&s=item&key=WczoxNToiQ29tbWVyY2lhbCBSb2FkIjs=&pg=
nautim
Heavens that has really made me feel old... I thought the photos of the smiddy would be ones inside with it working - I can remember being in there when I was peerie, not being allowed to touch anything. It was a very exciting place to visit as was Jeemie Smiths boatshed and the cooperage at J & M Shearers.
bug
Da barber next to Mac & Mac was Andrew Keith and next door to that was the amazing alladins cave that was Eric Browns bike shop.
Para Handy
Mac & Mac the place that always had the bit for your car, that you were looking for the week before. And they did not have it

Keedle
The gas works was on the North side o Mac & Macs . About 15 years ago we taped me Dad going over all the shops from one end of street to other with a running commentary of the owners and what they sold . Then me brother went and taped over it ! Infiltrator
I remember (just..) playing in the gasworks - didn't half stink. The other memory this thread has triggered was the huge poster just inside the door at the hairdressers - but I can't remember if it was aircraft or ships
hoosn
was it gas from there right up til the power station was biggit? was it biggit in the 40s or 50s ?
MuckleJoannie
I seem to mind that the gas works was demolished about 1970 and Charlotte House was built on the site. By that time Calor Gas was using the site to sell bottled gas.
