daveh
All the best for 2010 from me as well. Thanks to all who have provided me with advice within the Shetlink forum in 2009. My wife and I moved to these beautiful islands in April 2008 and we have been assisted in our settling in by the friendliness shown by the wonderful folks here. MuckleJoannie
Pedantically you are correct, as there never was a year zero. However the convention has arisen to name decades after the third digit of the years included eg the Nineties ran from 1990 to 1999.
Ghostrider
Pedantically you are correct, as there never was a year zero. MuckleJoannie
^^^Pausing only to get my pedant's hat back on Wikipedia[/url]"]Year zero is not used in the widely used Gregorian calendar, nor in its predecessor, the Julian calendar. Under those systems, the year 1 BC is followed by AD 1. The system of naming years as AD or BC dates from 525 AD. The concept of Zero as a number was not used in the West until the thirteeth century.
