swc123
Not the best of draws with some tough fixtures to come but that is just what we have to expect considering our current seeding and the strength of other nations in Europe. Although we are not out of it yet!
splodger
Sorry boys, no chance! Unlike England, even old Maclaren could get us through our group, couldn't he?

swc123
not a good draw! whats the crack with group? just the top team qualifies? Yes just top team automatically, and the usual play off for runners up I think. I think maybe the best runner up also goes through automatically but I could be wrong! 69bman
Spain: If we can get them here in the coldest month possible we could have every chance of beating the at Hampden. Porbably lose away.Czech Republic: They are a spent force and a lot of there good players have retired so should beat the here an draw away.Lithuania: 6 points.Liechtenstein: 6 points. If Levien can't get us through I would wait till the world cup qualifaction and if we still don't get throught then get rid of him.

It wouldnt matter if they had Fergie as Manager and Mourinho as his assistant, if you dont have the players, then the manager is limited in what he can do! I just cant believe Levein took it on in the first place...
Marshall
Look at the difference between the results and management with Smith and McLeish compared with Burley? More or less the same squad. The only hope we have to go through is to become hard to beat again, punch above our weight and a bit of luck that has been missing. Marooned in Maywick
The only hope we have to go through is to become hard to beat again, punch above our weight and a bit of luck that has been missing. That has tended to be a feature of Levein teams.
jimmy parks
I reckon that if Leven gets the likes of Barry Ferguson and Andy Webster back in the team Scotland will be harder to beat. Not sure if Boyd and MacGregor will make any difference, espeically not Boyd. As for the group I dont tink it would have made any difference what group Scotland ended up in. They would all be tough when you are seeded in the third pot.

If McGregor goes in the summer to another club I could see Neil Alexander emerging as a decent pick for the squad, always rated him as a more steady and reliable keeper than McGregor although I would say McGregor seems to make better reflex saves. Ferguson is playing well for Birmingham but I have the feeling that as he hasn't said yes already he is glad to be out of the bear pit and is in no hurry to go back and get abuse for his flicking the V's last time. Boyd doesn't suit the way we play internationally then again we need someone that the ball doesn't bounce off (Kenny Miller anyone) I'd personally like to see Steven Fletcher get a run up front on his own. As for the group we could surprise Spain, they don't like it up em and Northern Ireland proved when it comes to a scrap on a rain lashed night Spain can be rather anonymous. We should beat Liechtenstein and Lithuania, Czech Republic will be the games that make or break us I reckon.

Of course, should Craig Gordon be injury-free, the issue of who should be in goals becomes a non-question.Gordon first pick every time.

New manager, new broom Gordon isn't quite the keeper he was at Hearts, he still pulls off some cracking saves at Sunderland but he doesn't seem to have the same understanding or control of his defence he once did. I'd still have him as first choice but the distance in class to the next boy isn't what it once was imo.
