peerie t
Does anyone know of any bawdy or risque rhymes, especially from Shetland as I am trying to put something together for a friends birthday, and he has a particulr wealth of these. I know theres one called the 3 old men from Gloup, and then theres the island song (I come fae unst...) but I can't remember how these go.... But really, anything crude or funny will do. Just to start you off, my personal favorite at the moment is the Nort' A Voe prayer. And the Lord said onto Moses,(**mod edit** - removed on request)Except for Aaron - He'll have a square 'un,And the lord said "Come forth",But he came fifth, and was set upon by bandits,No, not ordinary bandits, but Nort' a Voe bandits, All Men. Foords_Chocolates
Hate to disillusion you, but this is not a Shetland Rhyme. I grew up in the south of England and they have the same rhyme there just with different locations inserted.
trout
Are you not looking for Guddicks? If that's even how you spell it Might want to try in the 'Shetland's written and spoken form' forum ?
peerie t
I know that one isn't a Shetland rhyme really, its just one of my favorite drunken rhymes at the moment cos it makes me laugh every time I hear it, I was just wondering if anyone knew of any ones exclusive to Shetland... Any would do really.
