all very confuseing,a'm blyde i failed me english o level,as far as i can see dere's only wan shetlnd,even da ider een's caad south shetland,so dere is only wan,an it's caad SHETLAND,shetland also has a lot o ider isles,dey aa hae deir ain names,but dere is only 1 shetland.

apart fae da ider night eftir a scar o drink,dan dere seemed tae be mare dan wan o aathing, :?

Well yes perhaps you would since there are two "Irelands" and you might not want to say which one you came from. Ok so there are two "Shetlands" as well but I cant see any problem admiting which one you came from.[/quo

 

I just wonder which "two Irelands" you are referring too??? I would hope it is Ireland the country and Ireland in Shetland rather than the other statement that causes the same debate in Ireland as the term Shetlands is causing here......only with a far more historical and political twist.....and I'm curious as to which Ireland you wouldn't wish to admit coming from????....In school in Ireland Shetland was always referred to as the Shetland Isles and from what I can see "the Shetlands" is BBC English.....
