Found two Faroese house building websites for any potential new house builders. For the first one, just click on any of the sections/links and you get the various houses during construction etc. The link Snið Hús shows you all the different designs on one page.

For Nordsetur if you want to see colour photos of the various houses just click on Myndasavn then either the blue word Snið under each house or the picture itself.

No problem at all :D

I've never heard of the Skye Coastal Range and until I went back and googled it had fears that it would be that boring and drab old scottish style of house that's considered "traditional" as seen on the rest of their website but to my surprise they're actually timber clad and look very nice.

I'm just trying to bring some Scandinavian and Nordic house designs to folk's attention because it's light years ahead of what has been built, and is sadly still being built in Shetland.

Those Coastal Range houses look nice as mentioned but if you haven't started building yet there's always time to plump for a nice Scandinavian style house....

:D

Ah, ok, my mistake - it's just that I've noticed one or two planning applications that had houses which resembled those Skye houses.

This is another Norwegian house builder's website. Some beautiful designs.

And this is a list of Norwegian house building companies and again there are some stunning house designs on the various websites.

please explain how scandinavian houses are light years ahead of whats being built in shetland???

No, no, I wasn't refering to the build quality but what I mean is in terms of design, character, colour and freshness.

Most of what has been built in Shetland over the past few decades is basically just a rectangle covered in harl, or just a square grey blob!.

My inspiration for this thread comes from a holiday in Norway a couple of years ago which opened my eyes and left me releasing just how drab and lifeless our houses/housing are.
