^^ I'm certainly with Josie at this point.

Too many people have been effectively taken advantage of due to them having the basic integrity to know when it is and is not appropriate to discuss things in public. Cllr Wills latest piece of lunacy is again farcical, if it wasn't for the fact it will again detract from the council doing what it is supposed to be doing and in turn cost yet more public money.

For anyone interested, the correct link for info about the hearing is : http://www.audit-scotland.gov.uk/about/ac/shetland.php

Whatever happens during/after the hearing, it is now clear that divisions are going to become even greater than they are now, and bearing in mind paragraph 16 of the May 5th report :

The council has not demonstrated that it can set a clear strategic direction,

supported by sound and consistent decision making. We found little evidence

of elected members acting in the interests of Shetland Islands Council as a

whole.

it would seem the only appropriate course of action would be for all members to step down, and do the decent thing by stepping away from the council to allow a completely fresh start.

A shame and unfair for those elected members who are actually working for their constituents and trying their best, but is there any workable alternative?

This bit I can agree with. As far as I'm concerned now, there is no need to waste further time and money with more enquiries, nobody accepts their findings anyway unless the "winning" side of the argument, and thats not always either.

We have already heard and seen enough to condemn this council to history permanently and immediately. Lets just get on with it.

I dunno.... I would tend to see it that if so far has been their best, they're not up to the job. How any councillor can still be sitting there quietly plodding along with "normal" council issues while everything around them falls down around their ears is a mystery to me. You have to question just what has to happen for those who have not yet spoken, to lose the rag, take the bull by the horns, and clear the decks of the lunatics who have taken over the asylum.

Anyone's patience can only stand so much, the as yet "silent" councillors must have the patience of Job....or have been deeply asleep since last back end.
