Has Shetlink slowed...

Is it just me or is anyone else suffering from slow page changes etc on the site lately ?

It took just over 1.5 minutes to open a forum page this morning and has been slowing down for a while now.

Can't say I've noticed any slowdown from any of the computers at various locations I use to access Shetlink.

No problems here either. It can be worth a try to clear out your cache/history now and again as this can slow things down. Especially if you are using Internet Explorer.

 

Try opening a command prompt and running a trace route. Start > Run > cmd > tracert shetlink.com

 

This will let you know if a problem lies between you and an ISP.

 

A good check to see if it is your computer/isp/whatever slowing things down is to try a different browser completely. Install Firefox/Chrome/Opera/etc and see if the problem still exists. If not then it is your browser that is playing up. If it does still run slow then it is worth checking the Flash/Java plugins to see if they are up to date and functioning properly. If they are then the next step would be the ISP. Lots of things can cause a website to load slowly including inadequate hosting. Thankfully Shetlink doesn't have this problem.

I am having the same problem as Malcolm but it isn't all the time. Sometime I get from page to page smoothly, then the next time it takes two or three attempts to get there.

Shetlink will go down for 5 minutes in 5 minutes for maintenance
