peeriebryan
(**Moderator edit - This message was originally posted in the The most depressing place in Britain thread **) Back on this topic of Shetland's image "overseas" - whit think you aa o this weeks Shetland Times report on the new Rough Guide to Scotland placing Shetland tourist attractions as 3 of the top 8 Visitor Attractions in Scotland? Amazing results for Shetland! 1st Placed Tourist Attraction in Scotland = Mousa Broch3rd Placed = Jarlshof8th Placed = Shetland Folk Festival These all ahead of other National Attractions such as: the Edinburgh Festival - "the world's biggest festival of theatre and the arts" (30th),Stirling Castle (14th),the Cairngorm Mountains (26th), Hogmanay (32nd) and Scottish Pubs (19th)! The really cool thing about this is that the Rough Guide series is an internationally respected reference point, producing Travel Guides for most Countries and large Cities of the world. These books are actively sought out by travellers and tourists planning their journeys and activities as they are known to be extensively researched and informative. Surely that's an official recognition of the quality of Shetland as a destination, reflecting our unique and attractive history, culture, music, and ability to have a right good time! Tomblands
The article is completely misleading as I have previously stated. It's the 40 things that you must see in Scotland. They haven't given Mousa the "Best Tourist Attraction in Scotland" tag as the Times seem to think they have.
