EmilyWhelan
Hi there I am currently a student studying photojournalistic photography at University College Falmouth, Cornwall. I have just completed my 2nd year and will heading on into my final year in October. Over the past 2 years I have been documenting and creating picture stories on old traditional ways of life and with this the relationship man has with the land. Such stories are "Gone Fishing" - which is a tale of three fishing brothers who sail out of the now sleepy harbour of Mylor and "Home Is Where the Heart Is" - that documents a traditional hill farming family in the heart of the Dartmoor national park. With the Shetland Islands being one of the Northerly-est point in Great Britain i am fascinated to find out a little more about Island life. I am planning to visit Shetland and It's Neighbouring Islands around the middle to the end of August and wondered if anyone could kindly put me in touch with a few people before i visit or if you know of any interesting characters over there. Many thanksLook forward to hearing from you. Emily Whelan my email address is : emilywhelan@yahoo.co.uk

Kavi Ugl
Hi Emily, well my suggestion would be Dr Ian Tait at the Shetland Museum. He's a fountain of knowledge on Shetland.
EmilyWhelan
Hi There It appears that I may have started off on the wrong footing, through my careless typographical error. I am merely a young student looking to document and preserve our fast disappearing heritage. If I have in any way caused offence through my over enthusiasm I am very sorry. Thank you to those who have kindly helped me out so far.Em.
