The Cheesemaker
Did anybody else see the dead dolphin (or small whale) washed up in the voe at Skeld yesterday morning? I saw the council recovering it with a JCB. Does anybody know more about it.. what animal was it.. or how did it die/or come to be in Skeld? shoormal
There's been a few dead eens in the area this last week or so, one in Sand and another in Bixter Voe that I know about. No telling where they've come from with all the different wind directions that have been lately. The Skeld wan has been around for a while and was seen floating in the voe for a few days before reaching it's final resting place.

man of kent
I had the good fortune of seeing the pod of killer whales in Yell Sound while I was up in June, would have been the 22nd. The ferry started following them until they got fed up and went deep. I managed to get a few photo's as we were pretty close to them. This was the first time I had seen them in Shetland waters except on TV. Luckily it wasnt the night they ripped up a minky whale in the same Sound.
