Kavi Ugl
Hi folks, I was discussing the Malise Sperra stone with a friend last week and it's gotten me hooked a peerie bit. I'm sure I can mind seeing a tall thin standing stone sooth by the golf course at one time but is this right?. I seem to hae a memory of a story that it was removed for road works but was never replaced?. Or is this the correct Malise Sperra stone?. I'm 99% sure the one I remember was taller and thinner. http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=22190
MuckleJoannie
I don't think the photo in that article does it justice. This is the view from Google Maps Street View. I always remember this stone as my Dad used to point it out without fail any time we drove through the Tingwall Valley. http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll=60.1606,-1.25905&spn=0.030749,0.077162&t=h&z=14&layer=c&cbll=60.160727,-1.258974&panoid=V6k_xOkgYHnxvbvd1xzt2Q&cbp=12,182.26,,0,
Ghostrider
The fence post will be around 1m high to give some perspective. http://shetlopedia.com/images/4/47/Standing_Stone_and_Modern_Erections.jpg
Kavi Ugl
Thank you I think it would be nice to have a heritage/information sign next to it telling folks what it is and why it's there.
