Jordan33
At school we are involved with Young Enterprise where we need to start up a business and we need to produce and sell a product or service. our product is an old shetland board game which we intend on trying to promote, introduce and sell to people in shetland. we are having trouble with who would be able to build us boards and pieces for our game. any ideas? jz
^^ Could it not be produced "in house"? (Well, in school). You would save in production costs, and it would probably be a worthwhile learning experience in making the boards and pieces. Good luck with whatever you chose to do. Askelon09
Why not speak to tay-cad, after seeing them at... ideal homes (i think) they can do alot, prices are excellent and even if they don't do the work they may be able to help you get started?!? worth a shot! Guest Anonymous
jeso why not do as jz says and produce it at da school there is a rather good woodwork dept and surely art dept can chip in with a bit of help metalwork may even have some useful tips. you wont learn much by phoning some other sausage up and saying I need a hundred lots of this made by next month how much is it going to cost? There would be agreat deal more satisfaction and experiance gained by doing it all yourselves. So if you go ahead with it and produce it yourselves put me down for 2. shetlandpeat
Would be difficult to mass produce game pieces in school time, there are other subjects. You would be ok contracting local wood turners and the like, get a price for each piece and chose the best supplier,\ If plastic then south, same principle
Njugle
Re-brand an existing one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shannon-Board-Games-Ltd-Hnefatafl/dp/B000BKBPV2/ref=pd_rhf_shvl_1 Dragon's Den potential. __________________________________________Hi Jordan, answers may be easier if you gave some idea of the level of technical requirements. Eg. if you just need counters and a board, slices off a broom handle would be easy for the school or college to produce. If, however, you need character pieces like a chess set, you are going to run into production vs cost difficulties anywhere this side of China! How about mini cardboard cutouts if so? They could be produced either by school, a firm like Tay Cad or a number of other sources... ...more info please!
Guest Anonymous
20+ pupils in a woodwork/metalwork/artclass making a couple of pieces each every lesson for a month and hey presto you have a production line.
Jordan33
had a meetin today and producing it in school wont be possible... the amount of time it would take up and the finish would be a bit shabby in comparision with getting it done elsewhere. thinking to start with a simple cardboard set. we discussed looking to tay cad and artmachine and possibly litho for getting them to make something... looking to have something at the craft fair which means getting something made asap.
