Styles
The Fortean Times which is the magazine for the world of strange phenomena has an article about Up Helly Ah. http://www.forteantimes.com/articles/206_shetland1.shtml Its actually one of the better articles I have seen done by a sooth moother. Good to know it is classed as a strange phenomena.
Fifi
Yes, one of the better, apart from the fact that women are welcomed in all the country ones, not just the Delting UHA!
Ghostrider
Good to know it is classed as a strange phenomena. I wonder if it was the event itself, or the scene that is the morning after the night before, that earned it that accolade.
JustMe
Yes indeed, a decent enough piece. Sounds like the guy really did come to Shetland for Up Helly Aa......and full marks for the country UHAs getting a mention. I guess it is strange enough for the Fortean Times....just. Ally
I've not been out on Up Helly Aa for 5 years, due to various financial, academic and laziness issues. I always regret not going up for it on the Tuesday morning at work. Page 2 in that article is a dude from the squad I was in, I think. Either that or he's borrowed the Jarl-squad of '89s outfit of someone. Anyway, definitely a good article. Would have benefited with a peerie mention of our famous Abbeys, but you can’t have it all I guess...
