daveh
On halloween night last year, I was surprised when two youngsters, aged around 11 I'd say, came up the hilly drive to our house in the dark to utter the "trick or treat?" question. I opted for giving them a treat and gave them a Mars bar each but they were somewhat underwhelmed by my generosity; or seemingly lack of it. What is the going rate for trick and treaters these days? It seems that I shouldn't be stocking up on Mars bars in advance this time.
Njugle
Put the hose on them - problem solved. And no decent country kid is going to reek vengeance upon you.....are they? Heh heh
daveh
A somewhat un-neighbourly approach, methinks.
Njugle
Okay, give them the Mars bar and then put the hose on them, win/win.
Longdog
I usually dress up as a grumpy old troll, come banging and grumbling to the door and when they've got over the shock and ask the question I say i'll have a treat and go for their stash. Stumps them every time I do give them a treat though, just like to get my own little bit of fun first !
daveh
What treat do you give them (seeing as that was my original question)?
Longdog
sorry. A choice of mini-mars bars etc and lolly pops in a bucket. I don't think you're being stingy, what do they expect a new mobile LOL
momo
In the current Nanny state the hose treatment could get you arrested for assault or child molesting. What you want to do is coat some Brussels sprouts in chocolate for their ‘treat’, give them as many as the little darlings would like.
Njugle
That is genius^.
EM
... coat some Brussels sprouts in chocolate...I expect I am probably in a small minority here, but I have a feeling that I would probably find that quite yummy. I'd certainly try it .
JAStewart
This year I'm dressing up as a windmill. People seemed to be pretty scared of them. ACTUALLY, I'm gonna dress up as a budget cut.

momo
You can also do Hard Centres/Soft Centres by either boiling or using raw sprouts
