my daughter loves american chocolate, she describes it of tasting of "soap" - yes she's a bit odd.

Believe part of it is to stop the "bloom" when going through temperature changes.

But now you can see why folks were so worried when Kraft took over cadburys.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that in the UK, chocolate has to have X% of cocoa solids in it before it can be classified as chocolate (can't remember the figure). However in the US it is a lower percentage (or maybe there is no such ruling?), so their chocolate has less cocoa solids in it (and therefore, IMHO, tastes disgusting).

Someone from work just back from a holiday in America brought us back some mini Hersheys bars. OMG, the Marmite of the chocolate world! Vile.....how do they get that awful after taste in it? :shock:

Look on the label it has a disclaimer just like the nut thing.

This chocolate may have “traces of poo-h in itâ€
