jarce2000
Hi, in 1998, BBC made a documental about the Piper Alpha rig disaster, wich occurred in 1988 in the North Sea. In this the video appeared the rig superintendent, Andy Mochan, which is perhaps from the Shetland Islands or Northern Scotland, because of his very rough accent, which I can hardly understand.I also need to translate 4 more passages of the video with scottish accent, there are some words I can't understand. All the passages in bulk span no more than 2 minutes. The resized videos weigh no more than 11 MBI will be very grateful if someone can help me.I cannot embed the video, so I am leaving my e-mail: j_arceortiz@hotmail.com Regards from Peru, South America Jorge Arce Ortiz P.D. : perhaps someone could tell me of a chat room where shetlanders gather, so i can ask for help more easily. Thanks.

Guest Anonymous
the rig super on the piper was definately not from shetland, and though there were a few folk from shetland who had worked on her back and fore I dont recall any working on her at the time of the disaster, quite a few of us witnessed it first hand from rigs near by and it was close enough I can tell you and something I have no wish to repeat. phil
I worked a couple of shifts on the Piper Alpha, based on the Tharos. We were either tied up along side with a bridge, or flew the crew changes with the 212 - our real reason for being there. Never met anyone else from Shetland there.
