Ghostrider
The ZE come from zetland. Which im sure it was before it became shetland Yes I know that, but lots and lots of places use the biggest town the area, eg B for Birmingham. So, I was just wondering why they didn't use LK1-3 instead of ZE1-3. Possibly for reasons of clarity, there are a number of other "L" postcodes. The same goes for "S" postcodes, there are no other "Z" postcodes as far as I'm aware. Using largest town is the majority, but there are a number of exceptions, the Western Isles are on "HS" (Hebrides), and of course all of London are non-location related. Plus, I would imagine that a large chunk of the Scottish Highlands including a number of towns are less than delighted they're on the "KW" (Kirkwall) postcode. bug
Does Shetland use the name Shetland Isles or just Shetland as it's name reference? To answer your query, as you can see from the site logo "Shetlink - Connecting Shetland" at the top of this page, just using "Shetland" more than adequately covers most eventualities. Does anyone think renaming this site "Shetlinks" may be more appropriate?

There's nothing more entertaining than spending half your life on the phone trying to convince some companies despatch dept that KW1 is actually Caithness on Mainland Scotchland and not Orkney....... Oh, how we used to laugh.

If I lived in Lunnun' Auld Reekie or any other of those God forsaken places, I'd be miserable too.
