turrifield
What did you think of his comments about Blair being a legitimate target for suicide bombers from Iraq? Also what about his meeting with Castro?
JustMe
Nobody should be considered a legitimate target for terrorists but I can understand why some people might think so. The UK and the US have been throwing their weight about in the middle east for years and I can well understand that the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan and the bombing of Lybia amongst other incidents could be considered as acts of terrorism by some in the Arab/Muslim world. Which in turn would make us and our leaders legitimate targets for those who we call terrorists but others in their own land might call freedom fighters. We have to start thinking that to the people of the region the places we invade are their homeland. The expression "it may be a crap country but it is my crap country" seems to fit the bill. As for Dr. Castro......despite the attempts of the US to bring Cuba and Dr. Castro to their knees and despite the collapse of the communist countries that at times sent aid to Cuba the country still exists, Castro still rules and in fact by some indicators Cuba is a better place to live than the US. As for Galloway the man is entitled to his view as indeed we all are but it is a pity he is not using his position to call on the so called insurgents in Iraq and the Taleban in Afghanistan to stop fighting and to allow the Infidel forces (us and the yanks mainly) to peacefully withdraw so the region can get back to some sort of stability. Rourkes Drift
Should we really be caring what George Galloway says - the man is clearly an idiot who cares about no one appart from himself and his own ego. He shouldn't be given the time of day in my opinion.
LondonBob
I've met George Galloway twice (once in my Uni days in Glasgow and last year in East London) and I was actually discussing him a few weeks with our Rugby Club President, who is our Local MP in London and happens to know him in his early days. One of the things we agreed on is that he is far from stupid. Our MP said that he was one of the sharpest politicians he had met and could easily out Manoeuvre most of his Peers (see the Bethanl Green election and his trip to America for example). One thing we did agree on though is that is is a complete Bullsh*tter that would say just about anything if it would ensure that it would get more votes or make people listen to his cause. An example was a speech last year he gave to Islamist parties in Bangladesh where he went on about how great islamist states where, and then stated the opposite when he came back to the UK! Oh and he seems to love the sound of his own voice especially when he has that "Look, i've come from the Shipyards, and yet here i am spouting these really long word and know what they mean!" air about him. The comments about Tony Blair are too be honest everything i would expect from him.

DamnSaxon
But isn't that true for ALL politicians? Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy: it is a well known fact, that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. The fact that HHGG is fiction doesn't devalue the point. I don't think I'd trust myself if I got into that game.
ArabiaTerra
I think George Galloway is an opinionated, self-centred, publicity seeking ar*ehole, and then he goes and says something which is right on the nail, exactly what I was thinking and exactly what the rest of our career minded, politically correct, toe-the-party-line politicians should be saying. I don't like the guy, but I appreciate him and I wish there were more like him, both here and in the US.

whodat
I met Galloway in my younger days. He was an arrogant puffed up little man with a napoleon complex (the modern "wee man syndrome") and was lucky not to get stretched for his rudeness and pompous arrogance in dealing with folk, my wife included. He makes my blood boil and IS a self serving toerag, preying like a vulture on the genuine grief and outrage of those he allegedly represents. The only thing he is representing is himself.
