Rune
Hi everyone, I'm a dobro/violin player in my late 20s planning a longer stay in Lerwick. As part of my preparation I'm trying to figure out whether or not I will be able hook up with people in my age group to play music, have a social life etc. I have this worry that young people from Shetland actually leave in their 20s to study or seek new opportunities on the mainland - meaning I would have a hard time finding peers. Could anyone fill me in on this? Is the mid/late 20s people present and normally represented in the Lerwick age distribution? thanks, Rune (from Denmark)
MuckleJoannie
You can see the age distribution of the Shetland population on page 9 of this document. http://www.shetland.gov.uk/documents/SinStatsBinder1.pdf
smeghead
Try going upstairs in the Lounge bar on wednesday evenings, usually a good selection of local musicians there from week to week.
