Twerto
As with most things i do on here i will ask without googling it first but what is the law regarding ticket touting? surely anyone selling tickets for more than they bought them for is touting? From a quick google, it would appear that unless you are selling outside a venue (And thus causing a nuisance), it is not illegal. Apparently some MP is spouting off about adopting an Australian law. Mind you, that's for England & Wales. Can't seem to find anything re Scottish statute. There is a code in place for the likes of ticketmaster but apparently that doesn't cover eBay, etc.
JustMe
From The Mumford and Sons websiteWe also love touring Scotland, going back to our Celtic routes, and wanted to take the chance to play some beautiful smaller towns that often get ignored on the more traditional touring routes. We figured that playing smaller shows would take us back to the beginning of our touring lives again, but we didn't really figure that there would be so much demand in places like Orkney - we're really sorry for anyone who wanted tickets but couldn't get them. We think we've reached a bit of a tricky stage where we're torn because we want to keep playing intimate shows, but we also obviously would like people who want to see us to be able to. So for now, all we can say is thank you to people who are planning to come along, and sorry to those who didn't get tickets but suffice to say we'll come back as soon as we can! We just wanna play gigs - big and small, and we always will as long as we live! M My Mumford and Sons CD arrived today and I played it right away. Now I doubt if I would go to see them at the Whiteness Hall even if I could get a ticket but they certainly make a refreshing change from the normal sort of noise that comes out of my radio and if they ever appear at a seated concert in Mareel them maybe I might just go. shetlandpeat
We broadcast live stuff, it all depends on logistics. If there is a reliable broadband connection, it is perfect. Otherwise we use a repeater/relay though live transmissions are few and far between.I am sure a link could be set up quite easily.

shetlandpeat
Used to go to all their tours when they played at Hammersmith Odeon. Front circle tickets were 5 pounds fifty. You could reach out and touch the big Eddie.Few years back mind.Bruce Dickenson had just joined after Ron left and Nico started the next tour I think. I think Reading MONSTERS OF ROCK was only 20 quid I think, but Stonehenge was best till the "New Age Travelers" wrecked it.

I remembere that some years back when Idlewild played up here in the North Star (I was there! ), the gig was played live on radio 1 but am I right in saying it was broadcast locally too? Unfortunetly shetlandpete is refering to an obscure radio station, which is based in Preston/Prieststown/whatever he is calling it this week so it has absolutely no relevance to this thread or the abilities of any Shetland based radio station who could or could not broadcast this gig live. Only my opinion.

Do it the easy way and stick them on Ebay - I've done this with 3 concerts I couldn't manage, starting price was what I paid which seems fair to me.If someone is prepared to pay two or three times what they cost me, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it
DavieG
Only my opinion.Mine too actually. And mine I'm sad to say. Rest assured what may look like a good, simple idea from someone to solve an issue, is often much much more complex than anyone might imagine, physically, technically, legally and most importantly financially. And remember Radio Shetland is not Radio Shetland in itself, but our national BBC Radio Scotland station of course. I'm not going to bother going into further detail on this one, but in order to ensure that a trickle of an idea on here doesn't (once again) turn into a public tsunami of demand, rest assured this simply cannot happen for a number of very good and sound reasons. If it could it would have been thought of before rest asssured.
