Guest CyprusPluto
Wouldn't really bother me. Days and nights will be the same length and I'd still have to get up for work
EM
I'd prefer the change, mainly for phoning to mainland Europe. It would mean an extra hour at the end of the evening when it would be acceptable to call people.
Colin
As someone who doesn't even own an alarm clock, I don't really care.

MuckleJoannie
I am old enough to mind when they did this from 27 October 1968 to 31 October 1971. It meant going to school in the black dark and in the heart hole of winter it was barely light when you went home again.
Guest CyprusPluto
The sun won't won't rise until 9am in winter Dizzykipper; doesn't rise 'til 9.09am now. If this goes ahead it'll be after 10am before it rises in the midst of winter
hairyian
I see that 'Dave' now wants to be a Time Lord. By making Scotland adopt Central European Time. Is this something we want in Shetland? I have a traditonalist view on this and feel that if we are going to make a change we should shift to GMT all year round. This will bring us very close to UTC, recognised throughout the Solar System and beyond, by all craft originating from Earth anyway.

Guest CyprusPluto
Given Shetland is an island, surely we don't have to adopt the same time zones the mainland UK.The only issue would be boat and flight timetables, but that's hardly going to cause many problems and therefore a reason to change along with everyone else. Kavi Ugl
As many say it's going to be dark whatever but I think the present time set-up is the best of a "bad" situation i.e it kinda evens the day out so to speak wi sunrise at 9.09am and sunset 14.27pm(?). It'll not matter what the Shetlander says anyway..... Mind you, I think light at 10am would take a bit of getting used to .

Yeh, but they're thinking if we change the time zone we live in it might all go away I don't know why they just don't ban night-time. Just think of the money you'll save by not having to put all the street lights on!
